The Associated Press ominously wrote Sunday that the knee injury suffered by Eagles left tackle Jason Peters Sunday was “thought to be worse” than a sprain.
Eagles coach Andy Reid, however, was very positive about Peters’ status in his press conference Monday.
Reid expects Peters to play Monday night against the Redskins. He is classified as having a knee contusion and an ankle sprain.
“He should be able to work through that and be ready this week,” Reid
said. “He’s walking around halfway decent. We’ll see how he does.”
Following the loss in Oakland, the Eagles will have plenty of pressure to get a win in Washington a week from today to avoid the feeling that the team is entering a tailspin similar to the one the Redskins are suffering through.
I was disgusted with what i saw yesterday. McNabb looked like crap. i’m done wit him. The sooner he is gone the better. it looked like the team just gave up.
Peters was walking around on the sidelines during the 4th quarter yesterday, so unless the Eagles are lying (which NEVER happens), he should be fine. The real question is, what about the rest of the line? Herremans should be back, but how rusty will he be? And only God knows what’s going on with the less crazy Andrews. Still, they’ve had more baffling losses over the years and STILL came back to make the playoffs. Plus the Redskins are awful and the Giants stopped looking like world-beaters yesterday, so the NFC East is still very much in play.
Penguin sounds like another ‘throw out the baby with the bath water’ fan.
The sacks on McNabb are not his fault. The o-line couldn’t, for some unknown reason, stop the Raiders D.
Celeck dropped a few that he normally would catch and so did the rest of the crew.
Ackers missed TWO FGs which could have made the final 15-13 with an Iggles win.
Then the play calling of more passes against the 30th ranked run defense is baffling.
All the ‘get rid of McNabb’ jerks and the ‘Reid should be gone’ wagoneers need to realize this is the best the franchise has EVER had.
Typical Philly fan. Can’t see the trees thru the forest. (and I am a 14year Iggles season tix holder)
We shouldn’t pin this on McNabb… the OL looked awful. How can Peters be walking around on the sideline??? Dude you just got a boat load of money and should not sit out a play unless you are carted off the field. Makes me miss Runyan even more…
Maybe they should ask Pierce for some words of encouragement.
Kudos to Oakland though, they earned that win.
Birdflu, Amen Brother !!
@Birdflu – you said it man….too many philly fans go to extremes…the same fans that wanted McNabb gone after the tie last year to the Bengals and then jumped right back on the bandwagon when the Eagles got hot.
Though I’m a Bills fan, and we do need a solid left tackle who doesn’t have 5 or 6 hold/false starts each week, there is no missing Jason Peters, and for the above mentioned.
All he wants is a fat check to feed his fat a**, and his fat ego. He had 1 & 1/2 good seasons in Buffalo, and was deserving of 1 pro bowl. How he got in last year is beyond me, he gave up more sacks than any left tackle.
Good luck Donovan, Kevin, and whoever else the Eagles put back there. Hopefully your a lefty so you can see the flood gates open in front of you instead of having your head taken off from the back.
Have fun paying for flab at LT Philly, couldn’t have happened to a nicer city.
Can’t lay this on McNabb. The O-Line played bad, real bad. You can’t forget the most overrated coach in the NFL Andy Reid. I’m not sure on the exact number of designed running plays but it should have been doubled at least. The raiders have a horrible run defense and we drop back to pass every play just about. Once McNabb is gone Eagles fans will realize how good he is. I didn’t think they would make the playoffs with the team we had, even if Joe Banner thought we had the best roster in football. Jason Peters isn’t a good pass blocker, and that is all we do. The move made no sense when we made it. O-line wasn’t the problem last year, but they had to get cute and make it “better” instead the line is in shambles. Then they signed Sean Jones and Mike Vick who contribute nothing. Could have kept Brian Dawkins for what they paid out. I doubt BDAWK would have let that TE score on that 80 plus yarder. I said it at the start of the season and I am right on par with my call 8-8. Sadly I hope its not even that good and Reid can get the boot. Thank god for the World F@#king Champion Phillies.
“All the ‘get rid of McNabb’ jerks and the ‘Reid should be gone’ wagoneers need to realize this is the best the franchise has EVER had.”
That’s so sad.
this is rough to say but truth…as a dallas fan i would love to have mcnabb…all through his career you eagles fans wanted him out and never gave him any real weapons….that being said, am encouraged romo will jump the hurdle…he’s not too young as a person but young as a starting qb in this league.
for the bills fan on peters….he is not worth that money but i saw a stat yesterday (watched the nfc east games at the bar hoping we would gain a game) and saw peters only gave up 1 sack all year and the eagles 6 as a team….the ugy who filled in for peters gave up 3 i think so it goes to show they already overpaid him and are committed but iwth him injured in the 2nd drive of the game it impacted them….never underestimate the importance of a LT and the fine line between good and awful.
can somebody PLEASE teach Asante how to tackle? Although, he probably wouldn’t listen. Not only are the eagles paying him ALL that fat cash to drop interceptions, but thay have been paying him to duck his head and miss players completely or get brushed aside like he is a mosquito.
You know what’s sad, Vox Veritas?
That you made it into your 30′s without ever knowing the touch of a woman.
