The Lions committed a multitude of errors en route to a 26-0 loss.
Said Lions coach Jim Schwartz, “When something like this happens, you can’t sugarcoat it, you
can’t blame it on one side of the ball.”
Lions RB Kevin Jones Smith had runs of 19 and 20 yards, but totaled only 22 yards on his other 19 carries.
Lions LB Larry Foote said it isn’t enough for the defense to start slow and then settle down as they did on Sunday.
After a third quarter scramble, Lions QB Daunte Culpepper left the game with a hamstring strain.
Seven penalties, five sacks allowed, two turnovers and one touchdown in five red zone trips mitigated the 435 yards gained by the Packers offense.
Packers LB Clay Matthews played every snap of the game and had two sacks and three tackles for losses.
Donald Driver passed Sterling Sharpe for first place on the Packers’ career receptions list.
LB Aaron Kampman played several snaps with his hand on the ground and produced at a level closer to what the Packers got when he was a defensive end.
Said Packers CB Tramon Williams, “It feels like a 50-0 game, but we didn’t quite get there. I felt we should’ve put more
points on the board.”
