I like Spags…but he is crazy if he thinks there wasn’t enough time for a shot into the endzone.
Now if he thinks there isn’t enough time left because Bulger will do something stupid like run around too long, or get sacked, or throw an INT…then he may be onto something.
But from inside the 10 yard line, 7 seconds is more than enough for a quick look into the endzone and throw it away if no one is open.
Kicking the FG with that time left was gutless for a winless team.
I was at the game with my nephew, and wondered the same thing that jersey73 was about the Rams decision to take the field goal.
Not that I cared, since I wanted the Jaguars to win in the end anyway. But with seven seconds and one timeout on the board, I couldn’t figure out why they wouldn’t let Bulger take one more shot. The Jags managed to shut Steven Jackson’s running game down for most of the afternoon, but he was still effective catching the ball. In fact, Jackson moved them 38 yards on the first play of the drive with a catch, and Bulger seems to be moving the ball down field pretty well until that last incompletion.
Perhaps Spags thought taking the tie and hoping to win the OT coin toss gave him a better chance at a win.
Too bad.
