Bengals sign player sent away in Leonard deal

Acquiring Brian Leonard from the Rams has worked out pretty well for the Bengals.

Leonard has caught 14 passes as a third-down back, converted a fake punt, and leads the league in jumping over defenders.

Now the move to acquire Leonard looks even better because the Bengals have re-signed defensive tackle Orien Harris, the player they originally gave up for him.

Harris will provide depth at defensive tackle, but shouldn’t be much of a difference-maker.  After all, he was released by the Lions after Week One.

Hey how about we sign a TE that can actually catch the football Mike Brown? Oh wait, that would require you to spend money. WTF was I thinking? My bad.

    What about Coffman?

Coffman must be really bad b/c he hasn’t even been in pads at a game I don’t believe. I don’t think he’s progressing well.

Here is a brilliant idea…stop throwing to the tight ends and utilize the receiver depth we have.

How about Mike Matthews-6’4″, 270 from GA Tech and recently cut by the Pats. He was on the Super Bowl-winning Giants and grew up in Cincinnati (Sycamore High). Nah, that would make waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much sense for douchebag Mikey.

It is well known that the Bengals have no depth on defense, but I didn’t know it was so bad that a Rams/Lions cast-off would be regarded as the best option?
As for Coffman at TE, isn’t it obvious the guy isn’t ready to play at the NFL level? Sure he can probably catch the football, but if he can’t block Palmer will be on his back looking out of his earhole the hole game. The 5 or 6 truly great TE’s in the league do both and do both well. Utecht might have been able to develop into that type of player but we may never know since he can’t stay healthy.

Yeah and Mike Matthews isn’t going to cost a fortune either. I say they should take a look at him but they won’t. He has got to be a better catching TE than Coats and Foschi. Foschi seems a bit better than Coats but that’s not saying much. Coats couldn’t catch a cold right now. He’s terrible. I’m surprised Palmer even looks his way.

Coffman isn’t ready for the NFL. We knew he’d take a while, and he isn’t even dressing. I say we just go three recievers the whole game (Ocho, Coles, and Henry with Caldwell switching in). I would say shotgun with four reciever, but we have a run bocking line, and Cedric Benson. We need a pass catching TE. Coats is supposed to block, but on big drives at the end of the game, he’s somehow in, and always drops it. Get a damn TE.
