Browns lose best defender Jackson for season

The Browns defense hasn’t had much going for it the last few years, but they have had D’Qwell Jackson, a rock solid inside linebacker that racks up tackles.

Now they don’t have him for the rest of 2009.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the Browns placed Jackson on injured reserve Tuesday with a shoulder injury.

Jackson was third in the NFL in tackles with 59 and finished first in the league with 2008 with 154.  Of course, playing on the Browns gives linebackers plenty of chances to pad numbers because teams are always running on them.

With Jackson out, don’t expect that to change anytime soon.

  1. Everyone who plays the Browns are classless since all teams run the score up on them. See the patriots haters for justification.

  2. Wow. This stinks. Guess one of our backups will be getting alot of playtime. Perhaps Veikune. The season was lost anyway, but you hate to see good players go down like this.

  3. Being a linebacker in Cleveland will lead to a short career. A shoulder injury for a Browns LB should be no surprise.

  4. Of course Jackson is better known as “The daytime, non-drowsy, stuffy head, sore throat, coughing, aching, fever relief to help get back your energy cold medicine.”

  5. prophet, you can’t say “everyone” because they actually beat the Bills, plus My Preciouss recently let them hang around ’til :o4 left in OT to finish ’em off. Or are you ‘prophesying’ events as yet to occur?

  6. daffy87, I think Bearsrule is possibly talking about James Davis’ shoulder injury. But he was a running back (who was allegedly injured by a linebacker – maybe that caused the confusion…)

  7. If it wasnt for bad luck this franchise would have no luck at all, a sad situation for all Browns fans.
