Less than seven hours to trade deadline

Stick with us throughout the day on Tuesday as we keep an ear to the ground regarding the coming trade deadline.

By league rule, the window for making trades closes at 4:00 p.m. ET, and it does not open again until the first day of the 2010 league year.

In most years, there’s little or no activity in advance of the Week Six deadline, due in large part to the fact that it’s too early for bad teams to engage in baseball-style fire sales.  And though some would like to see the deadline move deeper into the regular season, Peter King of NBC explained over the weekend that the league doesn’t want the worst franchises to throw in the towel, giving good players to contenders hoping to load up for a championship run.

Still, there’s more chatter this year than in past seasons, and we could see a rush of activity as the deadline approaches.

So get your effin’ F5 fingers ready.  We’ll be here all day.

Peter King should stick to the print business . He has a face AND voice made for ink on paper. When he opens his mouth and starts talking, cats everywhere start looking for chalkboards to scratch.

When the new CBA rolls around, a player’s Salary Cap numbers need to transfer to the new team, not just his contract.

Packers trade for Steven Jackson, please. I know, I know, it will never happen and we need an O-lineman more than anything else. However, I think the Packers RIGHT NOW are an 8-8, 9-7 team. That means a pick around 16-20. I would rather have S. Jax, who has 4-5 good years left, than a 1st round pick next year (where the elite OTs will already be taken).
Wishful thinking, I guess. And, I know it will never happen because of St. Louis’ salary cap situation.

So basically the NFL doesn’t want to be like my fantasy football league. Hard to argue with that.

If the NFL doesn’t want bad teams to dump players and give up so early, then move the trade deadline back a few weeks.

Can we trade pro players for college players? It the commish would allow it I’d love to trade the current Redskins team and coaching staff for USC’s team and Pete Carroll… and this is utter desperation cuz I hate the Trojans.
