The man who fell 25 feet prior to Monday’s game between the Broncos and Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium has died, according to SanDiego6.com.
Walt Daniels fell from a press-level ledge while preparing for the game. CPR was performed at the scene, and he was then transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital. He later died at the hospital.
“He’s been here for quite a number of years, probably maybe close to 25
or 30 years working in the press box on game days” Chargers spokesman
Bill Johnston told San Diego 6 News.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with Daniels, his family, colleagues, and friends.
Qualcomm Stadium … soon to be re-named Walt Daniels Stadium… is in a lot of trouble.
Everyone do me a favor. Don’t just say “my prayers go out to him and his family” but actually do it, pray for them. That is what they need at this tragic time, and sadly “my thoughts and prayers” has become more of an expression than a meaningful condolence between you, God, and the victim.
Godbless
R.I.P.
That is really sad….
The Chargers should salute this guy, he put in over 25 years at work. The players should do something nice for his family as he has been part of the Chargers team for such a long time.

Actually, in some theologians will tell you that the act of writing or verbalizing “my prayers go out to him and his family” is considered by the Big Guy as a prayer.

THANK YOU. Considering that since the accident occured, hundreds of other anonymous people have died on the job and have not had a blog article written about them.
Maybe, instead of saying “thoughts and prayers to XXX family and friends” (especially when you have never met the person) – if you are religious, just say one prayer at the end of the day and cover all the people who have died on that day.
Pray to who? A made up person? How about instead of “praying” or as I say talking to yourself, how about you hug your child, or tell your mom or dad how much you love them. What does this made up person “God” have to do with anything?
I feel bad for the family the situation sucks, but I think its funny how religous people get during a tragic event.
I will be saying my prayer for his family to the Easter Bunny, I figure that will be just as effective, and maybe they will get a never ending supply of Cadbury eggs….I love cadbury eggs.
I am going to type in my prayer now. “my prayers go out to him and his family”
My condolences to the family and his friends.
Everyday lots of people lose their lives and no matter who it is someone somewhere is hurting. My heart goes out to the family and friends that lose loved ones daily.
that is sad. my condolensces to his family. i hope the chargers do some tribute to him in their next home game, the guy was a mainstay of the franchise for the past 25-30 years.
i wonder if he really did have a pulse when they gave CPR. surviving a fall of 25-40 feet onto concrete that isn’t even level (steps) and stadium seating is borderline heroic…. and at his age i’d be very surprised if he even survived the initial fall. i wonder if it is like disney world, where they just remove people from the scene to pronounce them elsewhere.
onesweetworld and Big Stretch, there is no need to be offensive to religious people here. just because you can not believe in something greater than yourself doesn’t give you the right to cast stones at others who do. get over yourselves
sad day for that guy’s family. thoughts and prayers are with them.
Rest in peace, Mr. Daniels. I can’t imagine what his family must be going through. I hope they can find a measure of peace soon. A horrible tragedy.
@onesweetworld
Dude, I don’t believe in god either, but keep that negative shit out of this thread. Classless.

“I feel bad for the family the situation sucks, but I think its funny how religous people get during a tragic event.”
I think it is funny you try to lampoon people for, for once, attempting to be civil and do the right thing.
Religion doesn’t have to mean you believe in a old man in a beard and robe deciding our fate, it means you find a common ground to be a good person to others and obey the golden rule. If people use a book and a guy with a walking staff and long beard to accomplish this, so be it.
Your religion is probably Greenism, the new religion of the pagan left, or Self Worship. Good luck with those.
I think we need to pray for onesweetworld! Where do you think this One Sweet World came from?
Truly a tragedy. My thoughts and prayers for this person and another prayer for the aetheists. Isn’t aethism a religion about not being religious?
Any accidental death at work sucks for just about everyone involved. Hopefully this accident will prevent similar things from happening in the future. It may be extreamly selfish of me, but im glad I didnt know this before, or during, the game…
and as a side note, atheism is no more a religion than not collecting stamps is a hobby. If saying “our prayers are with them” makes you feel better then go for it. But at the same time, you shouldn’t get upset if someone else offers a diffrent option (like, go hug your kid) that may actually accomplish something.
Too bad for this guy and his family but this whole imaginary friend thing is dumb.
If there was a God and he really gave a damn about this guy then he would have stepped in before he fell to his death.
If this God did not care about him then what is to make you believe that he cares now?
Trying to rationalize a man’s death by involving fairy tales and superstitions should have ended a long time ago.
Religion keeps us linked to the dark ages and it holds us back as a species.
Didn’t the guy have the option of wearing a harness or something? Going forward, they may want to remove that “option”.
I’d throw myself off the side of the stadium if I were a Chargers fan, employee or otherwise.
296.
As the 4pm deadline approaches, I’m suggesting that the United States trade God and Rush Limbaugh to the Broncos for Josh McDaniels, Brandon Marshall and forty-six dollars in cash.
I see a lawsuit coming. The railing he leaned on gave way. I know someone who was there.
Maybe stringing phone cable up in a high place isn’t the place for old people – you know, the one demographic with the biggest propensity for falling down…
Not to be mean or insensitive, but when I first heard this news report, I knew the guy wasn’t 25…
To onesweetworld:
You don’t offend me by not believing in God (as the old saying goes, ‘some of my best friends are atheists’, but you certainly offend me by being offensive about it……..
I will be praying for the following families:
1) The one that has to put up with you;
2) The one that has to put up with ‘Bigstretch’3) The Daniels family
To Filbertkiwi71:
Amen! I couldn’t have put it any better (maybe a bit less salty, but absolutely no better). Thank you!

save your prayers and lighten up…..I work in healthcare and its just part of my messed up sense of humor to make jokes when bad things happen. Truth is I dont care what people believe in when it comes to religion, or anything else for that matter. My feeling on the incident are that it sucks for the family, which it does, but in my opinion “praying” for him would only serve to make me feel better about my mortality.
So again save your prayers……unless it makes you feel better about yourself, and if that’s the case could you pray that I win the Lotto
Very sad, indeed. What exactly was this “catwalk” or whatever and what safety measures are incorporated into it?
Prayers and thoughts.
