With a messed-up shoulder that became messed up yet again during a recent game against Texas, Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford will address the media on Wednesday regarding his future in football, per J.T. of CFT.
Bradford, the 2008 winner of the Heisman trophy, could at that point express his intention to enter the 2010 NFL draft.
“It’s not like Sam doesn’t have guidance or doesn’t understand the whole thing,” coach Bob Stoops said. “In the end, he’ll have an idea and a plan, along with his family, on what he feels is the right track to take. He’ll be able to answer that when he has an idea of what he wants to do.”
Though we’d need to see the facial expressions and hear the tone of voice that Stoops employed, we detect from his words in written form a hint of the pissiness that comes from a college football coach realizing that one of his star players has decided that it’s time to help his own family, instead of the coach’s.
I’m sure Oklahoma will take care of him. Maybe make up the $30 or $40 million his stupid decision to play another year has cost him and his family.
Note to all college players out there. If you stay that extra year when you’re already on top… they have a word for you… it’s ‘sucker’.
Did I accidentally click on CFT?
Hey Krow, I agree with you but it’s amazing and probably disconcerting to him that 1/2 the people say he’s stupid for staying and the other 1/2 say he’s stupid for leaving. Now look at him.
it’s *really* sad what happened to him. i’m a gator fan and even i can appreciate what he has done & what he has meant for his team.
he took a big risk staying in school another year, and he’s paying for it. he will lose millions upon millions by virtue of his draft stock falling so far.
i’d be surprised if any team takes him in a higher round now with his twice-seen injury to the same shoulder. the injury risk is now there and every nfl team will be hesitant.
i really feel for bradford, and wish him the best. good guy.
And all the commentaters were saying what a great decision it was to come back.
I actually think it was greed. He was thinking about being the #1 overall in a draft during an uncapped year.
Maybe Stoops should start considering a Lloyds’ of London policy on his @ss like Bradford should have on his shoulder!
OU is in trouble
Josh Freeman played his cards pretty well in this regard. I think Bradford will slip into the late part of the first round/early 2nd even with this injury. some team will be willing to risk a pick here. i think the patriots have something like 3 second round picks. wouldnt be surprised to see them take bradford. crazy to think that they may be looking for the successor to brady already/replacement for when he gets hurt again.
@Krow..always love it when people who couldn’t spot Bradford standing three feet from them want to tell him what he should do. HE will live with the consequences of his choices, not YOU, so don’t worry about it. Let us know if he shows up at your door with a tin cup. Until then, STFU. Go back to you $7.25 per hour job stocking shelves at Wal-Mart. Did he lose money on the deal? Who knows. That tale won’t be told for several years. Maybe he won’t get drafted by some horseshit team like Cleveland, the Redskins or Bills and may fall to someplace that fits him better like a Minnesota or Seattle. I bet he’d gladly take that choice.
Just like I find it difficult to believe humankind can’t create a better football helmet, I find it difficult to believe we can’t create better shoulder pads. The multi-billion dollar NFL should have an entire R&D division working on player safety year round.
And while I’m telling these rich goofs how to spend their money, they should have full time officials, too.
Look at the teams that will be drafting high. They need quarterbacks. He’ll go in the top 10. He would have been #1 or #2 though.
Bob Stoops is a petulant whiny egotistical douchebag who hasn’t won a big bowl game since 2002.
That is all. Best of luck to Bradford.
I hope that loser was as retarded as he was the first time and stays in college again, hes only a junior. He is setting a great example for kids across America: “When you have an opportunity to make sure your grandkids dont have to work, TAKE IT”
dr.g …. it’s always good to have an ignoramus like you weigh in on what opinions people should have. I’m sure somewhere you’re very important. Maybe folks even listen to you bray. They probably pretend you’re bright . But here you’re just an a$$hole.
They never learn, do they?
If you have the talent to leave school early and have a shot at being a top 10 pick?
DO IT!!!!!!!!!!
If all bradford cares about is money, he should leave.
If he cares about developing, he should stay another year.
The NFL won’t give him more than 3 years to develop, so having another year to work on things would be a huge benefit to his career.
Let’s be honest, his rookie guarantee is more likely to be all he gets if he busts due to development issues, so giving himself a chance to succeed at the next level could make him 100+ million.
P.S. dr g… the people at Wal-Mart work rather hard for their money… and they don’t get a lot of it. The last thing they need is some arrogant little prince like you looking down his nose at them.
@dr. g
How do you group Seattle in with Minnesota maybe Minnesota when all their veterans start getting old but Seattle is a bad team getting worse. Second Krow was dead on in his point (assuming I took it correctly) If you can go top 10 in the draft go! What ever you want in college is not worth the pay day your about to get. Did he not want to go to the lions? Possible but they really aren’t looking so bad an Bradford would have been better than Stafford. Did he want to win a championship? Well what sucks about the BCS is its really hard to win a national title because he is so stupid (the system). There is no reason to stay in this stupid system, go to the pros get your pay day and try to lead your team to a Super Bowl during your career.
Turning down millions of dollars to play football and risk the ability to earn those millions of dollars in the future just to play one more year of non paid football.
What am I missing here?

______________
What’s wrong with that? You give greed a negative connotation that it should not have.
Anyone who says Bradford was stupid for staying is stupid themself. Heaven forbid something might actually be more important to the player than the money (i.e., their education, developing another year for the NFL). I guess it was stupid of Peyton Manning to stay for his senior year too? It’s a risk they all take. For all we know Bradford might have had bad workouts last year and slid down the draft and lost a bunch of money Aaron Rodgers style.
Get real man.
Yeah… he went to Oklahoma for the education. Well played there genius.
@Krow..the point of my post is that none of us should make judgements OF ANY KIND on his decision to stay or go. What difference does it make? Why is he an idiot for staying? Or why is he greedy if he had chosen to go? Like I said, until he comes to your door asking for spare change IT’S NONE OF YOUR DAMN BUSINESS!! (By the way, I help pay the salaries of MANY Wal-Mart employees and am not looking down my nose at them. I just don’t get why Sam’s a moron for choosing to stay at OU and enjoy his time and get his degree. To me, anyone who would chastise him (which you did) for that decision is obviously not a grad school candidate.
@this class sucks..I only used Seattle in the equation because they have an aging veteran QB who could help tutor and develop a young player. Also, a pretty great place to live compared to Cleveland or Buffalo (sorry, but we all know it’s true)
Unless someone can site some accurate numbers of what he would have been gaurenteed in his first contract and what he will be paid from any insurance policy he likily has, (or can show he does not have one) you really have no basis to say he should have stayed or not.
And really at that point all you can do is site what YOU would have done under the same circumstances.
Fact is he could have gotten hurt as a rookie and only been paid the gaurenteed portion of his contract. Maybe the injury will show him that he needs to bulk up so he can hande the larger, faster players who will be landing on him in the NFL. Maybe the same hit from a pro would have ended his career.
Now he might get drafted a little later, get paid in his first contract alittle less, get some fo that difference in a check from an insurance company, then be a stronger player and earn a monster second contract.
Romo and Brady are doing quite well without being first round picks, never mind being top of the draft picks. I believe they will out earn Russell, Alex Smith and Vince Young.
Point is there are so many variables involved there is no one that can point to how much getting hurt this year will effect him. You dont know how he is protected with insurance. Maybe he is insured for enough that his grand children wont need to work. You dont know what might have happened to him with his small frame as a rookie. You dont know what he will earn in a second contract. You dont know how much trying to win a championship at OK was worth to him. You cant state what it is worth to you, but you cant apply that value to him.
dr g… seriously “By the way, I help pay the salaries of MANY Wal-Mart employees and am not looking down my nose at them”…
You don’t even realize what a condescending little $hit you are. It’s really kind of funny…
