Late in Sunday’s 17-point collapse against the Ravens (from which the Vikings somehow escaped with a two-point win), tailback Adrian Peterson sprained his ankle.
Though he literally walked it off and later returned to the game, Peterson practiced on a limited basis Wednesday.
Other players who were limited participants for the Vikings included safety Husain Abdullah (back), safety Eric Frampton (ankle), receiver Percy Harvin
(shoulder), tackle Phil Loadholt (ankle), receiver Darius Reynaud (hamstring), and safety Madieu Williams (quadricep).
Cornerback Antoine Winfield missed practice with a sprained foot.
The Vikings play at Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Peterson will be fine, its Winfield that is wearing a protective device (no, not the ones the players should have worn on their Love Boat cruise) that should cause concern to the lowly rated pass defense of the Vikings. This game is sizing up to drop the Vikings further down the rankings but they can’t get much lower.
Quick sign Childress to a long term contract extension before this ship starts to take on water.
I still wish the Ravens would have won that game, now that’s a comeback.
Peterson rolled that ankle pretty good, he’ll be limited for a week or so, probably won’t be able to cut well against the Steelers.
Adrian Peterson is a warrior, he will play in the Steelers game.
Steelers got this
The dreaded injury bug has bit the Vikings a bit at 1/3 way through. Think AD will be pumped and play well at the Burgh, but not loving the Winfield injury. Will be a physical game where his tackling will be missed I believe, much like Baltimore. We need the O to score big and the Dline to play out of their heads. Pitts Oline gave Ben all day against the Browns. We can’t have none of that.

A little piece of advice kid. If you want to grow up to be a trash talker. you’ll need to get your facts straight or you will be perceived as a fool.
He may play in the steelers game….. but they’re tough enough to run against healthy.
I’d be more worried about Winfield being limited and ineffective… that 2ndary needs all the help it can get.
Is it just me or is the writing on the wall for the vikings already? The Jets started out like a house on fire last year too
Florio, you wrote this article like the vikings didnt deserve the win which is ridiculous. They were destroying the ravens all game long until Winfield was injured so lets not take away the fact that the Vikings in every way deserved this win. Still don’t understand why you hate the vikes so much Florio………….
@Stillerz – Checking up on AD’s health Steelers fan?? lol don’t blame you. He strikes that kind of fear.

Yeah, cause those 6-0 teams are the worst teams in the league. I wish our team was 0-6, because then we would be the highest team in the rankings.
I get a feeling there could be a rematch of these 2 teams down the road .
Should be a great game either way . And a BIG measuring stick for both . Please tell AP to take his time its a long season lol . I would love to play them without AP . But if we want to get a good idea of how good we really are . Then he needs to play . So let the man be healthy . We need a good test for our defense and this team is it .
I think Florio is a Viking fan. He just tries too hard not to show it. ; )
I absolutely hate the Vikes but I hope those guys are OK (AW and AP)…gotta appreciate warriors like that and great athletes.
Don’t bet against the Vikes.
Yes, without Winfield they have a huge defensive weakness.
Without Peterson, their offense won’t present the same threat.
Taylor may not hit the homerun like Peterson (who might play anyway), but Taylor will be able to grind out good yardage against the 11th ranked run defense that will miss Aaron Smith. Favre looks better each week as he and his receivers gain rapport. The Steelers pass defense is suspect despite having Polamalu back.
Roethlisberger may play a great game, but he won’t complete too many passes if he’s looking up at the sky every few pass attempts. The Vikes will also have third round draft pick Asher Allen active this week; he should be be a better defender than third sting special teamer Karl Paymah who was pressed into emergency service against the Ravens.
Also, don’t hate on the Vikes weak opponents; the Steelers have three wins against the Browns, the Lions, and the Titans.
The Vikes should have lost to the Ravens, but only because they relaxed (or were gassed) in the 4th quarter. Losing Winfield(in the first quarter) gave the Ravens an easy target. Still the Vikes dominated the Ravens for the first three quarters even without Winfield.
Look for a shootout, Favre versus Roethlisberger , wily vet Brett versus brute force Ben. Don’t bet against the Vikes. You may be poorer if you do.

He is talking about pass yardage against the Vikings. Currently sit in the bottom 20′s, 28 I think.
So, his facts were pretty straight on, especially considering Rapelethsburger is throwing 300 yards+ almost every game.
With Peterson sitting for longer periods to rest his ankle the D will be able to pin their ears back.
Can’t wait to see Favre getting up slowly after eating dirt.
Percy….sort of like you checking out the Aaron Smith injury thread? haha…busted bro!
Having Aaron Aero-Smith out is a huge loss, I was glad to hear this LOL. AP is a beast though and there’s still 3 days until Sunday rolls around. Who knows what can happen in that time frame. I’m hoping it’s still a little sore though =) Kirschke played well in Smith’s place, but Smith is irreplaceable. CAN’T WAIT until Sunday. Only wish I could make it to the game. I’m only 10min. out from the Stadium, might still go and tailgate LOL.
armchair,
The Vikes may very well fall apart at some point, but I don’t think it’ll be for the same reason the wheels came off the jets. I think Favre’s injury, not his age, was the primary reason the Jets went down. If the Vike’s can keep him upright, I don’t think he’ll fade as he did last year.
The Vike’s have far more talent than the Jets had last year, but they aren’t without their problems. I’m not 100% sold on the offensive line, and the Vike’s pass defense has looked pretty poor at times.
However, when compared to the Bear’s pathetic run game and aged defense and the Packer’s horrible protection, the Vikings are still the strength of the division.
@Pervy
The story is in the Steelers section of the site…it’s not like a Steelers fan would have to search around or check up on it lol.
@armchair_probowler
“Is it just me or is the writing on the wall for the vikings already? The Jets started out like a house on fire last year too”
How is the writing on the wall??? How can you compare the Jets of ’08 with the Vikings of ’09? Brett is healthy. Just because the Jets faded doesn’t mean the Vikes will. It’s ridiculous.
The Vikings *almost* blew a huge lead. People can say they were “lucky” or that the Ravens should have won…but they didn’t. A win is a win is a win. They all count in December when the playoff seeds are determined….that loss might keep Baltimore out of the playoffs….
And it’s AD (All Day) not AP!!!
Vikes are 6-0 with a little injury bug issue. Thing is they can afford to lose a game.
Everyone points to the Ravens game as if the Vikings got blown out. Haters want to ignore the fact that the Vikings dominated most of the game and then out of nowhere stopped playing up to their own level.
All season they have been good with the exception of a quarter here or a quarter there. Pitt could very well win this game. They are good and at home. But the Vikings could very well keep it close or win it as well, especially if the offense kicks it into overdrive.
But yeah, it is not good when Harvin, Peterson, and Winfield are all hobbling around. They aren’t long term injuries though, so we should still be good long term.
@ Vox’s Mommy – LOL Yah,you got me! I’m a careful researcher of the weekly match. Even been reading the Pittsburgh papers( a bit whack,I know)! AD will be just fine! Sure I’ll run into you again before Sunday lol
@Steelers4Life -Yah,I know. lol Just had to give him a lil crap for his sure Steeler victory. Which is normal being a Pitt. fan, I’m sure the Vikings will pull it out myself!
Pervy- Dont like to see anyone get injured but the Vikes will be much easier to beat if their best player on either side of the ball cant go. Still hope they play because to be the best you got to beat the best, but playing injured should slow them down enough
mw- 11th ranked run defense?! try 2nd best run defense giving up 74.5 yards per game. Good RB dont run on the Steelers when healthy, gonna be even harder when hes banged up
Stillerz:
Not every team you have played so far has the NFL rushing leader on it either…….
Chilly’s ben playing with the Injury report all year.
Steelers got this huh?
Go ahead and take them lightly.
Chickenfoot….I dont think any Steeler fans here are taking this game lightly. We know better. There might be some trash-talking, but that’s about it. If you ask me, there’s a lot more Vike’s fans here claiming that the Steelers are going to be “Steamrolled” by the Vikings. YOU should know better. Having Smith out is a huge x-factor for your running game. It’s a toss up really.
IF the Steelers win I’m not going to be here talking trash like most of the fans will. But I’m telling you now….the energy in Heinz Field is absolutely insane for a big game. Trust me, I’ve been to most of the playoff games the past 6 years and been to every AFC championship game played at Heinz Field in the last 10. Plus every game against the Ravens in the past 6 years. The place goes crazy! This game is HUGE for us right now, and the fans know it. Electric doesn’t even touch what it’s going to be in there. Good luck

=========================
That’s who I was referring too.
I said on another vikings/ Steelers thread that I expected a hard fought game.
I’m not one of those guys that thinks the Vikes steamroll, in fact I’m expecting a loss.
Good luck to you.
It gets confusing because of all the idiotic Packer fans on these threads bashing the Vikes at 6-0, when they are 3-2.
Oh well, they were bragging all off season about how great they were coming off a 6-10 year.
They are for the most part football idiots…and I have to live amongst them….uff
@ Chickenfoot -
NO NO NO NO LOL Never let them see you sweat!! Go Vikes!!
Pervy:
Not sweating….lol
Just showing a bit of respect. With the exception of Stillerz, it’s refreshing to debate a fanbase that is knowledgeable about the game.
Having to read the Packer fan drivel wears on you after awhile. Beercheese, Supersuckers, and footballrulz are the exception to the rule that most Packer fans are booger eating morons.
I guess I shouldn’t have said I expect a loss…..I just wouldn’t be suprised.
