Former Seahawk charged with murder

A former member of the Seattle Seahawks faces first-degree murder charges following the stabbing death of a Louisiana man.

Terreal Bierria, who spent three seasons with the Seahawks earlier this decade, allegedly killed a man named Soron Salter in what police believe was a dispute over drugs, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Bierria and Salter reportedly were old friends.

A fourth-round draft pick in 2002, Bierria appeared in 14 games as a rookie and started 12 in 2004, his final NFL season.

Reminds me of the time the Pittsburgh Steelers murdered the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl. Ha!!

Soron Salter: sounds like a villain in a video game

Finally, someone who killed a guy has been an IDP on one of my fantasy teams. I can die happy now (possibly at the hands of one of my FFL players).

He should know he’s nowhere near famous enough to get away with this.
Post OJ stats and you’re good. This guy is toast.

This isn’t football, why do you report this “nobody”? If Johnny Unitas or someone of that stature had commited some heinous crime of sorts then it’s news. But don’t report some nobody whose only claim to fame is that he visited the urinal with an NFL uniform on!

If he was in the NFL still he would only get a month, what a dope.

I believe you’re thinking about the time the Seahawks were raped by the referees.

@ mbbrazi: “don’t report some nobody whose only claim to fame is that he visited the urinal with an NFL uniform on!”
And just how many NFL rosters have you been on?

Another sad story about what happens to these guys after the NFL disposes of them. Some of you will make jokes about murder and rape and drug use but the fact is that the majority of the players that we fans cheer for on Sunday end up broke and desperate in less than five years after they stop playing. More should be done to help these players after they can no longer produce on the field. It is upsetting that some of you call this guy a nobody because you didn’t know of him or recognize his name. Nevertheless, the NFL needs these so called “Nobodys” as much as your company needs your lame ass!

@ stopwatch – generally good points, but as for:
“More should be done to help these players after they can no longer produce on the field.”
GMAFB. No sympathy here for that angle. Two things to remember 1.) You can’t fix “stupid”, and 2.) Bad companions bring bad luck.

stopwatch – you can’t blame anyone but this guy himself. no one made him do these stupid things, and you can’t blame the NFL for making him turn to that. that was all his own doing.

or they can just save money like the rest of the world instead of blowing it. And, he can get the hell out of that disgraceful area he was in.

The sad thing is this is a guy who left the team in 04 to take care of his family following Katrina and was cut the next day. Jemele Hill did a good story for him on ESPN.com as he tried to work his way back in the NFL. I guess once the NFL checks stopped coming his back was against the wall and he had to do drastic things to take care of his family. It’s a sad end to a story if true but you’re innocent until proven guilty and a lot of people should put yourself in the shoes of the accused before rushing to judgment.

Ray Lewis thinks this is despicable.
@BigDaddy- Your comment is the first time I have ever seen the words “Pittsburgh Steelers” and “raped” used together.

I certainly understand that the choice made was undeniably his own. My point is that the NFL and the NFLPA don’t do enough to support these guys after their done playing. Granted some of them earn outlandish cash, alot of them don’t. Especially when you consider their payroll, which typically includes agents, attorneys, wives/girlfirends, body gaurds, and financial consultants. All of which comes out after they get hit with huge federal and State taxes. Aside from the super stars and despite what you may think; these guys don’t have a lot of money left to get the hell out of their disgraceful areas and continue to pay for reconstructive surgeries and gold digger support.
Imagine building a career in a specialized field and after 6 years being thrown out. Your previous experience means nothing and you have not developed any other significant skills. Oh and by the way, physically you can’t endure a job that requires you to do a whole helluva lot. Where would you turn! And don’t pretend that you would not be vulnerable to turn the wrong way.

stopwatch – you can’t undo 20+ years of growing up around unsavory people. it is not the NFL’s responsibility to take care of every person that ever plays for it.
if you were arguing for better benefits for *retirees*, i’d be right there with you. i think they need to take better care of those who gave their life to the NFL.
you are talking about a guy here who didn’t have enough talent to hack it in the NFL, ultimately. He had a single payday, unwisely spent the money, and now he’s reverted to the lifestyle he knew before. his single payday, even after taxes, is more than i’ll make in 20+ years. i come from a poor background, why is it he should be felt sorry for because he couldn’t manage his money properly?
playing in the NFL is a privilege, not a right. 99.99% of us never get that opportunity. He gets one and doesn’t make anything of it. se la vie, man. most people drafted don’t end up cutting it. all those players should prepare for life outside the NFL, just like you and i prepare for life if we get fired. have a resume ready, plan in place, and savings for that time you are out of work.
i can tell you i spent some time unemployed last year and i most definitely didn’t resort to drugs & murder. If i had, would it have been my ex-employer’s responsibility to protect me? of course not.
this guy had a chance, and it’s over. he chose his path post-NFL, no one else did. the onus is on him.

Glad Y’all think this is humerous… The victim was a good man who would do anything for you. He was about to become a father in December and now THANKS to a junkie who became a murderer a child will come into this world fatherless. Dont believe everything that you see and read. I am a HUGE football fan but this waste of life should not ever be connected to the leauge.
