That really pisses me off! I had a nice long post typed up and submitted it over an hour ago and it never showed up. This isn’t the 1st time that’s happened either.
Needless to say, I’m at work and i can’t take the time to do it all over again.
I know it wouldn’t be ” banned” because there was no swearing or name calling in it.

And Chicken I respectfully but completely disagree about the “his guys” statements. His job is to provide the coaching staff with the best possible players to work with. He even gave Sherman an extension when he was first hired. Certainly a “my guy” GM wouldnt do that. Maybe Im missing something but I sure would like a example of a “TT guy” situation that occured because I dont recall any. favre and rodgers? Had to be done and TT still almost waffled on that when they were going to welcome him back in late April.

You cannot put the 4-12 of 2005 on Thompson however. That was a year of evaluation and that led to a complete makeover. To get to 8-8 in 06 and 13-3 in 07 is a testement to how excellent of a job Thompson and the whole staff did. Last year there is no excuse for. If it happens again he is in trouble agreed. But keep in mind he did build a SuperBowl team in Seattle. One that was a couple of iffy calls away from winning it all.

Part of the problem, I believe, is that TT must answer to a board of directors.
Whereas Zyigi and whoever else, are spending money out of their own pockets. Wilf had to go to his investors to ask for more cash when they signed Allen. Favre is also being paid in an unconventional way.
I am in no way defending TT. Wolf spent money before and never seemed to have a problem getting it.
I see a situation here where both sides are right in some ways, and both sides are wrong.
TT did this while he was in Seattle too. he cleared out all the players that were not ” his guys”. Seattle made the playoffs in 2 of the 5 years he was there. he also had a lot of questionable draft picks.
Thompson did make some questionable first day draft picks in Seattle, however, including first round pick Chris McIntosh in 2000, second round pick Ike Charlton in 2000, first round pick Koren Robinson in 2001, second round pick Anton Palepoi in 2002, third round pick Kris Richard in 2002, and first round pick Marcus Tubbs in 2004——–Who?!?
Sounds like his track record in GB. 1 playoff appearance in 4 years, soon to be 5. Questionable picks with a few late round nuggets thrown in.
His talent evaluation in the 1 st few rounds, leaves much to be desired.
That being said, he does not have to answer to an “owner”. He is in a position where it’s all on him. I’m not sure how the board of directors meetings are planned and how often they meet.
Maybe this guy just errs on the side of caution to keep his job?
Maybe he’s hamstrung by the board? We don’t know.
Maybe this is just his philosophy, which is a sound one……if you hit on your draft picks.
He hasn’t on the important ones(early rounds) sans Rodgers and Jennings.
If you are going to take the road he has, you HAVE to hit on more than the 55% Wolf ascribes to.
Wolf probably hit at a higher level than that, but, he also brought in premium free agents to supplement his drafting.
TT tries to get by on the cheap in FA and takes other teams back-ups and special teamers.
Here again, is he hamstrung or no.
Bottom line, it’s all on him for his drafting and he’s not getting it done.
I agree with both of you in some areas and disagree with both of you in others.
All bashing aside, I’m trying to be serious about this. I agree with the notion that no playoffs = TT must go.

No No. I appreciate your concession speech. Thompson has whiffed on many players. In the case of the Vikings, well, they are strapped for cash. They needed to sell naming right to their field turf. Many teams do this. But usually its the entire stadium not the turf. The Vikings don’t own the dome. So. Yeah they have brought in some free agents but they are also hurting financially. You have to remember this is a business and part of Thompson’s job is to make sure the business stays viable. Not only does he head up personnel he heads up football operations which is everything from personnel to the paper clips his department uses on a daily basis. He has had free agents work out. He usually does not get involved in the first wave “dumb money” free agents (thankfully). I guess I am interested in knowing what basic facts I am ignoring.

I don’t “run from discussions”, I have a job. Sometimes I can’t be on here.
Fine. I’ll concede I’m not the best at economics (maybe I should be in politics). However, despite my limited knowledge, I will say it’s funny that the Vikings, (who even Jerry Jones knows make a lot less money than the Pack) still manage to get talent outside of hoping their 6th round picks pan out. That would seem to imply to me that there is at least SOME way to make it work.
Nonetheless, it’s widely known on this site and others that there is no point in arguing with a TT lover such as yourself. Simply supporting the man and his decisions requires you to ignore basic facts, so it would follow that you would also ignore whatever facts I would present in an argument against him. I’ll save us both some time here and just let it go.

It sure is! Glad you recognized that.
I’m joking, (seems I to need to say that). I also think you left out one of the da’s. Seriously though, every team except Seattle and Houston has its own stupid cheer. It’s just part of football.
Skol Vikings and go pack go are not the best, but also not NEAR as bad as gridiron heroes, j-e-t-s jets jets jets jets, hey hey tampa bay, or the Bills make me scream and shout (which HAS to be the worst).
What I don’t understand is why blowing that confounded horn is apparently necessary after every touchdown, first down, interception, forced fumble, sack, 3 and out, field goal, extra point, decent kick return, punt inside the 30, or Childress nosewipe. Come the hell on! Sounding it after touchdowns, that I could understand, but seriously, is your franchise so historically horrible that you feel the need to celebrate every minor insignificant play that goes in your favor? And if so, can they cut back a bit now that you finally have a decent team? The dome is bad enough already without the horn every three minutes. Just give it a rest.

Sutton wasn’t that good we gave him the opportunity to play with the first team but we didn’t produce enough yard. In my eyes this is a desperation move cause Green is always injured and we just needed a second string running back. I do agree that we should of kept sutton more then Wynn. I never thought wynn was even that good. I hope green gets his 46 yards though. He deserves it.

There is way too much bashing taking place on this topic…
Green is not an act of desperation at all. Injuries have occured and the Pack are picking up someone very close to the organiztion who can come in right away and can fill a role. Fans like him and he wont be spendy. It’s a simple win – win that really wont make a difference towards wins or losses.
There would be nothing different if the Vikes were to pick up a former cornerback that could fill a much needed hole with Winfield not playing “if thats the case” and if we had a former stud corner LOL
