Cowboys coach Wade Phillips revealed new injuries Wednesday suffered before the team’s bye week by two of his best players.
Running back Marion Barber has a fractured left thumb and defensive end DeMarcus Ware has a stress fracture in his foot. Those injuries sound serious, but Phillips says both players will start Sunday against the Falcons.
Barber’s injury is to his non-dominant hand, but it could hurt his proficiency as a receiver. He practiced without trouble during the bye week, and didn’t realize it was broken until an MRI Monday. (Marion Barber is a bad man.)
Ware has apparently been playing with the injury during the season, and Phillips says he hasn’t been slowed down by it. The injury could help explain Ware’s relatively quiet start to the year.

Ware must only have a stress reaction…which is not as bad as a fracture. If he has a fracture and it gets worse he wil be on IR, doing the Cowboys no good. PHILLIPS IS A MORON! He has the final say on playing time, WAIT I WILL RETRACT THAT, Jone has that say and he is dumb enought to play Ware and risk it. The Cowboys have a lot of good players and I feel bad for them that they play for such an idiot Jones and Phillips! Running is obviously a lot different, but when one of my cross country teammates got a stress fracture, it was literally an injury you don’t return from for at least 3 months, and how fast you return is chance, not toughness. The longer you try to run on it, the longer your rehab. Dallas took 3 games to register a single sack or a takeaway on defense, they need Ware as healthy as he can be, even if that means going without him for a couple weeks. After all, he was on the field and didn’t make the decisive difference, protect the future of your defense and get him up to his peak

Well compared to any NFL player I’m basically a total pussy but I QB’d a high school game with a broken pinkie on my throwing finger so a fractured thumb on your off hand doesn’t really sound that bad.
