Hanson spoke with Napa officials again Wednesday

Napa County D.A. Gary Lieberstein will announce the fate of Raiders coach Tom Cable at roughly 6:30 ET Thursday.

Before Lieberstein made his final decision, it has been learned by the San Francisco Chronicle that he spoke with Raiders assistant Randy Hanson one more time on Wednesday.  Hanson is accusing Cable of assaulting him and breaking his jaw on August 5th.

Lieberstein apparently had a few more questions for Hanson he wanted to ask before making his final decision.

The fate of Cable’s career as a head coach in the NFL could hang in the balance if Napa officials decide to press charges.  Cable will meet with the media Thursday, but it will be before Lieberstein reveals his findings.

The Chronicle also reports that the NFL will likely issue a statement regarding the case after Lieberstein makes his announcement.

I wonder if the rat gave the cops yet another story.

So at what point does politics come in to DA Lieberstein’s decision? I’m sure Napa County and its constituents enjoy the additional revenue the Raiders and their fans that visit every training camp produce. Do you think the wiley old coot that runs the team may have dropped a hint that the Raiders could be looking to change training camp locations? Hmm…
OTOH, Napa has to know that the lease in Oakland/Alameda is up in 2010. Knowing the Raiders have no problem leaving the Bay Area may sway the DA toward a more lawful… can-I-win-this-fight type of attitude.

you dont come out of a coaches meeting with a broken jaw.

Not withstanding a lame attempt at humor, even an idiot like slipkid should know there’s always coaching life after a Raiders stint. Look at… hell, every one that’s ever coached the Raiders: Tom Flores, Mike White, Joe Bugel, Art Shell, Bill Calahan, Lane Kiffin…. The line to the gaining employer is, “Hey, it was Oakland. No one can win there.”

Bouya! No charges, suck on that, haters.

  7. BorisBulldog says: Oct 22, 2009 6:38 PM

Cable will get off as no witnesses are willing to testify, then he can claim that Hanson broke his own jaw like some sort of stigmata thingy!

  8. Barfly says: Oct 22, 2009 6:38 PM

Just announce there will be no charges filed.

Hahaha cable is free, free I say!

Cable will no face charges. It’s official.

Just what I stated long ago, no charges against Cable. DA had to call Hanson back in to go over what he called inconsistent statements.
DA also stated there was no proof that Cable even put a hand on Hanson and that while Hanson was sitting back with his feet on a desk he was knocked over and lost balance.
After what the DA put out there does not even look like Hanson would have a shot at winning even with a lawsuit.
I tried to tell ya all, the dude is flaky.

Here you go, Flowerio – now I don’t want to hear another word about Cable.

So Hanson’s jaw just broke it self sitting in a meeting
falling over backwards from a chair? What a load of sheet. Obviously Al “Weekend at Bernie’s” Davis’ henchmen lied to the DA to save their jobs. Why am I not surprised that could happen in gangland…….er Oakland?

  14. Phreakin says: Oct 22, 2009 7:13 PM

    No charges:
“NAPA, Calif. — Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable won’t face charges after being investigated over allegations that he assaulted one of his assistants, ending a two-month saga that was a cloud over the team’s season.”

    LOL Slim
    No Charges-No Evidence-No threats
Man, who said that like 6 weeks ago, oh yeah Cable.

  16. Rusty23 says: Oct 22, 2009 7:38 PM

Initial reports on this inicdent came from Florio’s pal Nancy Gay. Anyone who has had experience reading her stuff over the years could tell you that like usual, her facts were just plain wrong. Find someone else in the Bay area to trust Florio.
And before anyone that wants to believe that Cable IS guilty of breaking this guy’s jaw speaks here, explain to me why Randy Hanson’s story has changed 3 times?

Tom Cable is the next Madden.
