I would hardly call this team a perennial playoff team!!! They sucked just as bad with Gibbs as they do without him…Gibbs doesn’t get it anymore and looked lost on the sidelines…remember him calling back to back time outs to ice the kicker??? A HC needs to know all the rules….Joe coming back will only make things worse. If I remember correctly wasn’t Joe on board with making Zorn the HC??? Come on people! What the Redskins need is to have Joe Gibbs buy the team and pay a real GM to run it.

What is your basis for this??? I seem to rememer Gibbs stepping in a bringing a franchise in turmoil (after Spurrier got his hands on it) back to a perennial (sp?) playoff contender. And… they haven’t made the playoffs since he left. Gibbs brought in good core players to build around (London Fletcher, Clinton Portis, Chris Cooley, Sean Taylor, Sean Springs, LaRon Landry, etc). It was the people in charge immedietly before and after Gibbs that screwed the Skins.

Gibbs is too old to coach. He’s probably to old to be GM.
But he’s the right guy to hire and manage the GM & coach, because:
1) He’s good a building organizations, and
2) He’s the only guy that Danny MIGHT not meddle with.
The best solution is to fire the owner, but that’s not going to happen.

i thought that was them at Golden Corral.
I wasnt sure though since the dark haired guy ( snyder i guess)
was sitting in a Booster Seat. It looked like his dad (gibbs i guess)
was lecturing him pretty good. little guy was sweating and shaking his
head, hanging his head and generally pouty.
just passing it along. i didnt see uncle Vinne C anywhere
unless he was that putz standing outside in the rain by the Escalade parked by the front door.

if gibbs gets rid of cerrato on day 1, he could then build a team. Cerrato must go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
personnel decisions have been awful in every year gibbs wasn’t there. even when he was he laid a few eggs, but he got quite a few good starters……..problem was and is that the whole organization has neglected the offensive line, and jc ain’t turned out to be joe montana after all…………….

Perfect timing with a possible strike coming up maybe grandpa gibbs can pick up a couple of scabs and take the team to a superbowl. The Redskins are the most overated/overvalued franchise in NFL. Here’s hoping they continue to be Danny’s sideshow for the next 25 years!

I had watched the game on Sunday and was impressed by all of the people dressed in their colors……
Wait a minute it was all of the burgandy empty seats…..
My eyes are playing tricks on me…
I wouldn’t pay 40 dollars to park either……
Think we should wear paper bags on our heads this week but please please dont wear the plastic ones it might draw to much attentiion…

The Redskins need a current football guy, not someone from the past. Gibbs would only be doing it for the money. Gibbs was great in the 80′s and early 90′s, but he’s been away too long.

Sounds like a smoke screen to me. I am sure Snyder does NOT want to have a hands off approach.
It will be Holmgren or Shanahan next season. The Redskins are 0-2 on “up-and-coming” coaches. (Spurrier/Zorn).
Maybe they would bring Marty-ball back to Washington?

On the Mike Wise Show in Washington, they just read a text message from Gibbs’ PR guy saying that he had been asked about this rumor, but Gibbs wouldn’t be doing this because he has too much other stuff he’s doing.

Joe did you not learn from your first experience with Danny Ball? He is obviously not listening to your advise NOW. He most ceertainly won’t just because he is paying you.
The only solution to solving the Redskins problems is for Danny to realize he doesn’t know jack about football and needs to leave it to others who do. He can brag about his team all his wants, he can fleece fans all he wants — if he just lets anyone else on the planet make football decisions.

RUMOR? Seriously Florio?
Gibbs needs to ride into the sunset. redskin fans will always cherish the man who brought rings to the skins!
We need someone with a very big boot who will not be afraid to shove it up ANYONE’s ass. To be frank, cut players who suck and trade players who don’t perform to their abillity.
If Danny doesn’t just be an “owner” this is all for not. he needs to just write checks and enjoy the games on Sundays. Let the football people fire, hire and need not to look over their shoulder because of an idiot owner who thin ks he can put together a football team.
Please use this uncapped year to cut over payed players and not to sign more over priced premadonna’s. The penalties for cutting players will not hurt in this uncapped year coming. We can put ourselves in great position (salary cap wise) going forward.

I’m a Joe Gibbs fan, but bringing him back in an official capacity just doesn’t make sense.
What could be expected? At best he may stablize the roster and operations, at worst we’re looking at continued ineptitude.
Gibbs 3.0 is a wishful proposal at best. Snyder would do best to truly find new personnel to grow the franchese anew w/ versus bringing folks back from the past in hopes of finding new glory.
Gibbs the coach is great, Gibbs the football exec, not so sure. The guy thought Campbell was the second coming of Doug Williams, when we all know now he should have been drafted no higher than the second round.
Keep dancing back and forth Danny, see how many steps forward you take.

First of all, winning in NASCAR isn’t a big deal if you have the money and can get a good driver. If I had the money, I could certainkly do it.
2) The Redskins limped into the playoffs both years and shouldn’t have won against the Bucs. It was the Redskins getting the benefit of a bad call.
Gee, things certainly can be made to look rosey in hindsite can’t they??????
Gibbs II was a quantifyable bust……of course, compared to everything ELSE the skins have done, it was a success.

When will owners just be owners and stay out of the coaching part. All you have to do is look at Dallas, Washington, Oakland to name a few who owners have their hands in it too much….. These owners are like the waffling fans out there and we thought Brett waffled.
Hire a respectable GM who can handle the day to day operation of the team as well hiring a coach and getting players to buy into the coach. Owners…just sit back and enjoy the game in your private boxes as it was meant to be.

Gibbs 2.0 was a success in that he made 2 playoff appearances with essentially the same talent that the Redskins currently have, and of course he had only average starting QB’s. Now in 2009 they will be lucky to win 4 games all year. My concern is that Gibbs is almost 70 years old. I wonder how long he would last. Then what?

No chance this changes things…Gibbs was there to set the course for the franchise in the 2.0 era and Danny departed from that as far as he could. The only way this works is if Gibbs makes all the calls and Danny keeps his grimey mitts off the football operation. I don’t see that happening.
