Polamalu's knee keeps him out of practice

Steelers safety Troy Polamalu returned to action in Week Six after missing four games with a knee injury.

But in the wake of the team's win over the Browns, which included an interception from Polamalu, the All-Pro defender missed practice on Wednesday, due to the knee injury.

It's possible that the Steelers are simply being cautious as Polamalu continues his return.  Still, it'll be interesting to see if Polamalu returns to practice on Thursday as the Steelers prepare to face the Vikings.

He was the only Steelers player to miss practice Wednesday for injury reasons.  Running back Rashard Mendenhall participated on a limited basis due to a knee injury of his own.

The steelers usually make sound decisions but playing Polamalu against the browns was dumb! Why bring him back for that game. Shouldnt they have kept him out another week and brought him back this week? I remember Polamalu a few years ago came back what seemed to be too soon from an injury and wasnt right for over a year.

although troy had an interception vs the browns, anyone watching the game saw troy get up very gingerly on that knee directly following the play and hobble to the sideline. i know he finished the rest of the game, but on various tackles it looked like he wasn't playing w/ his usual ferocity (not running head first through the player lol, rather arm tackling).

no one in their right mind could think that his knee is even close to 100% and probably won't be for the rest of the season. i just hope that he is sitting out practice to allow more time to heal and he returns to practice today. the bye week cannot come quick enough for him.

timmons and polamalu played for the first time together vs the browns and I think that polamalu's presence will allow timmons to continue to have big games.

Tomlin was quoted this week saying that he was going to rest Polamalu this week in practice to make sure that he was as healthy as he possibly could be going into Sunday's game against the Vikings. Do some research Florio before you post these "updates"

Why play Troy against the Browns? Because if the Steelers lose that game their season is over. The Browns had given the Bengals a scare, and the Bengals had beaten the Steelers.

Ok.No execues by Steeler or Vikings fans. Looks like Winfield isn't playing. If Polamalu can't, it's an even elimination of 2 great All Pro players that are very important to their D. Play on!

Nice Pervy...this should be a great game!! I have my popcorn ready!

As a Vikings fan, I guarantee you Polamalu will play on Sunday. He will be running around like he always does. He'll be at full-speed.

    @ Ravenmaniac:

You're absolutely right - it was dumb for the Sttelers to recklessly rush Troy against the sorry-assed Clowns. They ruined Kendrell Bell's career with similar idiocy.

@ leatherneck - Bet you are right. They just resting the guy most likely. Not sure he will be at 100% though. Even a 75% Troy is a pain though to us.

It is going to take a phenomenal game by Polamalu to keep the Steelers in the game this week. Steelers fans know (but won't say out loud) that they have yet to beat a team with a record above .500. My gut says that doesn't change this week, even with Troy.

samWycheForPrez....just like how the Ravens haven' t beat a team over .500?? Like the Colts only playing one team over .500?? Like how out of 6 of Denver's wins, 4 have come over teams w/ less than a .500 record?? do some research.

Now...it was stupid to have Polamalu back last week. I have no idea why they did it. Anyone who has seen Troy play before knows that he' wasn't 100%. Something was just "off". And it might just be the same this week. Someone said above though, with Troy and Timmons on the field at the same time, Timmons had a much larger impact. That is a GOOD thing. We'll see what happens

Listen to all the arm-chair coaches...

When did you talk with Tomlin Lebeau about Troy? What Steeler meetings did you sit in on? What doctors reports on Polamalu did you read? Which trainers did you discuss Troy's condition with?

Please stop making assumptions on topics you know nothing about. It makes an @ss out of you.

C.Bass....did you watch the game genius? Troy made a mildly explosive leap to intercept that pass and got up limping. For the ENTIRE rest of the game he wasn't up causing havoc at the line of scrimmage as usual, he wasn't flying to the ball in the secondary. He WAS different, the only way you'd know that of course is if you watched the guy play.

I'm sure the coaches had a ton of advice from doctors, talk to Troy, etc.....I don't think anyone here, including myself, stated anything that said otherwise. I think that most people just wanted to give Troy the extra week to heal and practice more given we were playing the Browns. I wasn't looking past the Browns, I'm just confident we beat them either way. I would rather have him feeling better for the Vikings game. We WILL need him healthy for this game. And, as of now, it appears that playing him in the Browns game, or at least keeping him on the field after he was limping around, was a mistake.

Please stop making assumptions on peoples statements that you OBVIOUSLY know nothing about. It makes an @ss out of you.

    C

They are just saying it's dumb because in all likelihood, they could have beat the browns without Troy.

    Not hard to understand

Take this flahlight and your 2 hands.....see if you can find your ass.
