One day after missing work with the flu, LaDainian Tomlinson returned for a full practice Friday and will be ready to take on the Chiefs.
Kansas City’s rush defense has struggled all year, and made Clinton Portis look a few years younger last week. Tomlinson is also hoping to turn back the clock, and there’s someone on the Kansas City sideline that feels the pain of his slow start.
“[Tomlinson] is a good enough back to know it’s going to happen,” Chiefs running back Larry Johnson said. “He’s just got to keep staying with it and not get frustrated.”
Johnson, averaging just 2.7 yards per carry, sympathized with Tomlinson’s frustration when he was taken out near the goal line last week.
“Watching him on Monday night, he was really frustrated. There were
some plays where they took him out of scoring touchdowns and doing what
he does best. That can get him a little frustrated, which is
understandable. The same happens with me,” Johnson said.
Johnson and Tomlinson are examples of how quickly things change at running back.
In 2006, they were the two best. Just three years later, they combine to have 175 fewer rushing yards than Adrian Peterson.
Two peas in a pod. It’s always sad to watch NFL players that are closer to the end than the beginning. Watching them slow down reminds you that the clock is ticking on you as well. Sigh…
“The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long.” That should be the logo for the lifespan of the NFL RB. When they finally lose it, it’s no graceful exit.
“Watching him on Monday night, he was really frustrated. There were some plays where they took him out of scoring touchdowns and doing what he does best. That can get him a little frustrated, which is understandable. The same happens with me,” Johnson said.
======================================
That’s because your both washed up overpaid bums, Larry.
Misery certainly loves company.
LJ can’t hold LT’s jock.
Yeah, why would you want to use L.T. from Denver’s 3 when you’ve got all 156 pounds of Sproles, right Norv??? LMFAO
why dont they just get a room…
Doing what he does best? I don’t recall L.T. being a between the tackles runner without Bulldozer Neal being in front of him.
While I was watching the game I expected Norv Turner to be fired at halftime; all game long the Broncos were able to stop the run up the gut, so what do you do on 3rd and short? Go up the gut? Jeez, how is this guy still a HC?
L.T. was needed to block, so they couldn’t use him like he was at his prime: the ultimate Wildcat option. When he got tossed the ball you couldn’t just put 8 in the box to stop him. If you did, he’d burn you for a TD pass.
LT is back!
Now for the reality. He’s s shell of his former self and the Charger’s defense is an absolute embarrassment.
Man, I hope LT is ready to light it up!!!
Glad to hear he’s back at full practice…got him & Vincent Jackson on my fantasy team this week…If LT doesn’t do it this week I’m writing him off for the year!!!!
Watching Tomlinson block makes me wanna puke.
He’s not just bad at it, he shows no interest in it whatsoever.
These two had great olines in their prime and so does A. Peterson . If LT or LJ had the Vikings oline they would be killin it too! The list goes on S. Alexander, E. James a good oline makes a running back great.
LT has done it for 9 yrs and for his first few the oline was trash. Yes he isnt the LT of 06 but if he had holes he would get 1400 yds easily.
Remember when he go all butt hurt when Jim Brown said Peterson was the best back in the leauge? He probably still thinks he is better.
I wish Norv would get the flu.
and NOT come back.
LT = It’s all about me.
Point 1- Neither Peterson nor Johnson have Norv Turner as a coach.
Point 2- Peterson has an amazing line to run behind. Both LT and LJ have injury plagued lines coached by dumbasses and rookie coaches, respectively.
Point 3- Johnson isn’t half as accomplished as Tomlinson
Larry Johnson had one good season. He is no better than Barry Foster.
Point 4 : None of this changes the fact that Tomlinson is a whiny washed up china doll and Peterson is the most explosive back in the leauge.
Alright!!! all you people compareing Adrian Peterson to LT, and LJ need to STOP!!! cause Adrian Peterson runs behind his pads and plays physical!!!! LT and LJ wish they could play like that.
