Ochocinco wants to be a reporter

ESPN is getting hit from all sides this week.

First the Steve Phillips fiasco, then Deadspin takes fire, and now Chad Ochocinco's multimedia empire is ready to take on the Worldwide Leader.

Okay, so ESPN doesn't need to be too worried about the leading receiver of the Bengals.  But Ochocinco's new iTunes app is selling well, and now he's launching OCNN (The Ochocinco News Network).  The "network," which seems to basically be Ochocinco's Twitter account, promises to break news from around the NFL, including the Bengals.

No one is doubting "Esteban's" marketing ability; he already coaxed an Associated Press article and interview about the endeavor.

"If I break it, you might as well believe it," Ochocinco said. He plans to become the player 's version of PFT.  Or something.

"I am that source now," he said. "I'll be the leak for all 32 teams."

While the concept may get the attention of Ochocinco's coaches, we think the coverage of the announcement is probably being taken a little too seriously.  Shocker: the idea has something to do with a sponsored promotion.

Before Ochocinco calls PFT "haters" again, though, we will be happy if he can deliver some unique injury or player news through "OCNN."

He certainly has some good sources. While it's not exactly headline worthy, Ocho posted a pic Saturday night with Bears players Jay Cutler and Greg Olsen.  The three players are apparently dining together at Morton's in Cincinnati.

Keep on the look out for some breaking OCNN news from team sources in Chicago.  Like how Olsen likes his steak cooked.

Cutler does look like an attorney in that picture, as a comment suggested.
Guy catches a lot of flak for having fun, let him enjoy the spotlight a bit. At least he isn't breaking any laws or breaking the substance abuse policy.

A reporter? Doesn't have the intelligence. Ochocinco couldn't spell Ochocinco

    Ocho knows how to write?

i'm so tired of this guy...he's a year from being washed up so he's constantly making crazy statements to draw attention to himself so that he fights off what's really happening...and that's him being irrelevant in a year

I'll second that. NBC needs to find someone better to manage their Internets.

Chad Johnson can write or is that rite that he is a dumb ass.

The only thing more annoying then another Brett Farve article is any article on 85 Johnson.

The only person that could be possibly a worse reporter then 85 is Tiki.

Hey does anyone think Bob Griese is wondering is Ocho Cinco is out having a taco?

The Bay Area has Nancy Gay, now the midwest (or so) has Chad Gay.

Media has become the "golden ticket" for people. Some were lawyers turned media and now NFL players are turning to media. Never really trusted any of them.

    They are funny though.

Mike, there was no reason to throw in those ESPN shots other than to further your agenda against them.

Couldnt find another story that would have allowed you to make a connection to the scandals without making a huge stretch?

Depending upon what you call the writers for this site, i would certainly say Ocho has the intelligence to be a reporter. He'd need a boob job and practice reading a teleprompter, but he'd be fine.

    @mwho6e

Who needs excuses to take shots at ESPN? they are just terrible at about everything. For that matter, so is disney their parent company. you could write an article about the bucs not winning a game since last year and include at the end that ESPN sucks a fat one and it would be just fine.

Let me put it this way, if ESPN was good at what they did, there would be no need to be reading PFT would there?

Wow what planet are you living on right now? Or well have been for the most part of this decade. Granted Chad might be on the downside of his career. "Which is debatable" but to say he is doing all the talking because of that, is outright funny. He has been doing this for years.
Aye some of these comments are quite funny to read. Not funny in a haha way, but funny as in, It makes me happy my kids didn't turn into buffoons, like some people here.

He's going to break football news? He's a lot closer to the front lines than you are Florio. Maybe we'll get something better out of Chad's news and rumors than your posts of stuff that's already out there in the headlines.

Oh, and let's not forget your cutting edge post about Peter King's opinion of something.

Chad might be putting you out of business.

How can you be a successful reporter when most of what you say is "you know" "I mean" "you know whatimsayin" "like" "I mean" "child please" "whateva"

With limited intelligence, no writing talent and questionable grammar he's a cinch to join the PFT staff!
