Redskins coach Jim Zorn will live with the decision to take him out of the loop on offensive playcalling. But that doesn't mean he thinks it was the right decision.
Asked if he agrees with Redskins executive vice president Vinny Cerrato's assessment that he'll benefit from having "less on his plate," Zorn was blunt.
"No," Zorn said today, per the Washington Examiner. "I don't look at that as a positive."
The Redskins' new playcalling system will keep Zorn completely out of it: Offensive consultant Sherman Lewis will decide which play to run and tell offensive coordinator Sherman Smith, who will then tell quarterback Jason Campbell. Zorn won't have any say.
But Zorn does say he thinks Lewis, Smith and Campbell have worked out a system that can work on Monday night against the Eagles.
"They have a system worked out and they've been communicating well," Zorn said. "Will there be glitches? There won't be that many. If we ever have one problem, we'll address that problem and work it out. But right now ... it works good."
And that's about as ringing an endorsement as you'll get from a coach who has just had playcalling duties taken from him.
Zorn can't see positive in playcalling change

It's now the Sherman to Sherman connection. If your name is Sherman, The RedSkinneds need YOU !
I feel so bad for Jim Zorn. He's a good guy in a crappy situation.
Cerrato's assurances regarding Zorn's job security mean nothing, if Snyder decides to fire both of them Tuesday morning.
His play-calling was CRAP!!! He's really acting like a baby about this whole situation. He needs to be happy that he is still the head coach. He is AT BEST a QB coach.
"No," Zorn said today, per the Washington Examiner. "I don't look at that as a positive."
was he supposed to say yes?
The only man in the Redskins organization who could use less on his plate is that fat turd Albert Haynesworth.
I guess that means they can't blame Jim Zorn for anything. If they lose, they can't blame Zorn. He didn't pick the players and he didn't call the plays. It will be interesting to see how Snyder and Cerrato handle the loses now.
Look at it this way Zorn, you aren't calling the plays now and if you didn't agree to the change you wouldn't have been calling the plays. So it's the same situation, except this way you still have your job. DUHHHHHH!!!!
Daniel Snyder will be the worst owner in the league the moment Al Davis dies.
Well, I don't think Zorn is handling this right. I don't blame him for wanting to finish the job, but he really should have told Vinny to stick it when he was told about the play-calling change. That would have forced Snyder's hand, one way or the other -- either a firing or a more meaningful vote of confidence. (Probably the former.)
Zorn is the type of guy who wants to do the right thing for his players, and so I'm sure that's why he swallowed the hemlock that Vinny forced on him.
Big J has it right..how can you blame the guy if he's not playing a role in this mess?
Zorn has to look out for himself. He was forced to coach a team that didn't have his coach's or players and an offensive line everyone knew wouldn't last the season. Take as much of the midget's money as you possibly can.
Not many people take a demotion lightly.
Zorn's been Sherminated for the time being.
This is the first call Zorn got right. Snyder bought gold that turned his finger green.
