Will Michael Koenen hit Cowboys' video board?

After flaring up as a major story in the preseason, the possibility of a punt hitting the Dallas Cowboys’ video board has become a non-issue.

Atlanta Falcons punter Michael Koenen may change that today.

With the Falcons preparing to play at Dallas, Koenen has openly discussed trying to hit the board in pregame warmups, just to see if he can. And he says the board — which is 90 feet above the playing field — might just obstruct one of his punts in the game as well.

If I accidentally hit it, I accidentally hit it,” Koenen said this week.

Koenen doesn’t have the strongest leg in the NFL, but he is known for booming high balls that get good hang time. When the Falcons’ punting unit takes the field today, you can bet Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will be paying close attention.

I’d love to see him kick about 9 in a row off that ridiculous monstrosity. Fortunately for Jerry Jones, his defense probably won’t be able to force Atlanta to punt very often.

i would imagine ST coaches are telling their guys to kick away from the board. They gain nothing by hitting the board. Players run enough during the practice week

He will not hit it. If the Koenen hits the scoreboard its a disadvantage to his own team. A 2nd punt with tired STs favors the return team.
The Coaches should be telling him he better not hit it or face a fine in the Kangaroo court.

Jerry should definitely move his board if there’s even a chance of it being in the field of play. By the same token, it wouldn’t be that hard to figure out if a punter were ‘trying’ to hit the board. Take the player’s 10 best hangtime punts (time and horizontal distance traveled) up until said Cowboys game, run a little high school physics, and you can find out if his best (or at least tallest) punts reach that neighborhood.

Oh Wow, nothing else to write about so we are back on the punt hitting the video board, Get a life…..Who really cares….Didn’t we discuss this enough during pre season.

“After flaring up as a major story in the preseason”
You misspelled “odd obsession by some reporter types and at least one crappy punter that plays for one of the worst teams in the NFL”.

Punters know this is their once chance to be talked about all year unless they make a major mistake. Of course they’ll aim for it if they can hit it.

The only thing hitting screens in Texas is the greasy BBQ chicken flying out of Vox Veritas’ fat mouth as he screams at the TV. The Falcons gonna roll all over the Cowboys.
