Winfield could be out a month

ESPN’s Adam Schefter said during the Sunday morning SportsCenter that Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield arrived in Pittsburgh still wearing a walking boot on the foot he sprained last week against the Ravens.  Winfield is doubtful for today’s game against the Steelers, and not likely to play.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that Winfield could miss a month because of the injury.

If so, he’d miss only three games, since the bye comes on November 8.

And since they come out of the off week with a visit from the Lions, Winfield would realy only be missing two games.

UPDATE:  Schefter reports that Winfield is out for today.

Hey Mort – Eli Manning could be out for a month as well. Tom Brady could miss the rest of the year if his knee doesnt hold up. McNabb could be limited tomorrow.
Just so darn proud of the quality reporting at ESPN. Being vague seems to be the key to their reporting functions. Does anyone actually go to their website anymore. The last time i checked it out it was a confusing mess, with more “stories” then sports news.

Glad not to have to face him today. As a fellow buckeye though AW is an absolute beast who’ll probably end up in the hall. Get back soon buddy.

A name the entire country will know over the next month: ASHER ALLEN CB

Tape an aspirin to it and get in there.

Definitely bad news for the Vikes. Benny Sapp is more of an asset on special teams, and Winfield’s injury makes a questionable pass defense even more suspect.

let’s hope he isn’t out for next week against the packers. I won’t mind losing to the steelers, but I would rather kiss my grandmother on the lips with her dentures out than lose to the packers.

He’ll return just in time for the Vikings annual season ending slide.

Agreed, a loss to the steelers is nothing to worry about, a loss to the packers really won’t make that big of a differance in the standings (they will lose to cleveland today), but listening to the 4 best team in the NFC north’s fanbase start talking smack about beating a team without its starters (see; Lions, Detroit)
And you never know, this could be the comming out party for Asher Allen and maybe with some proper prep time paymah could be respectable.

Do you even watch football, because you sound like an ignorant douche.
Last year the Vikes finished the season 5-2 to make the playoffs. 2007, they finish the season 5-2 after going 3-6.
He will miss 2 games, and return to help the Vikes win the North again and make a playoff run.

Predicted this exact thing when the said the injury was a foot sprain a week ago. He’ll miss 4 weeks because they don’t want to risk losing him for the entire season.
