49ers-Texans one-liners

Vernon Davis’s 49ers franchise record three touchdowns in one game by a tight end weren’t enough to avoid a 24-21 loss.

After entering the game to start the second half, QB Alex Smith completed 15 of 22 passes for 206 yards and Davis’s three scores.

Rookie WR Michael Crabtree made a mistake on the first 49ers offensive play, but went on to have a strong debut.

49ers T Tony Pashos and LB Takeo Spikes each suffered injuries to their shoulders which appeared to be serious.

Said 49ers coach Mike Singletary, “I know we came back in the second half and we made some plays, but we
just didn’t play well
. We have to have better offensive line play.”

Said Texans QB Matt Schaub, “We’re confident. When you go out and win a game you build a lot of
confidence, especially when you’re playing well and doing good things.
Obviously that game we did some good things. We needed to come out of
the gate stronger in the second half; we knew they would come out
playing. A lot of things were in place in that game to help us win.
We’re going to think about where we are at and just keep getting better
to go into next week.”

Texans RB Steve Slaton lost his fourth fumble of the season.

Texans TE Owen Daniels had seven catches for 123 yards and his fifth touchdown of the season, which ties his career high.

Texans T Duane Brown said anger about 49ers cheap shots contributed to his drawing an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the fourth quarter.

Former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush served as honorary captains for the Texans on Sunday.

Good to see A.Smith play well. He is just 25 years old. He finally has playmakers on offense. Coach Sing should name him the starter 2 see what he can do the rest of the way before they use one of their 2 #1 picks on a QB.
The O-Line is terrible and thats the negative part of this team. You can factor in mistakes/mental lapse and penalties to that negative equation.
This team is another draft/free agent period away from serious contention.
