Andre Johnson has a lung contusion

The chest injury that sent Texans receiver Andre Johnson to the hospital didn’t break any of his ribs.

Instead, it bypassed the bones and went straight to one of the organs they protect.
Coach Gary Kubiak said Monday that Johnson has a lung contusion.
He’s regarded as day-to-day, and Kubiak wouldn’t commit to Johnson being available for the team’s next game.
In Buffalo, the 4-3 Texans will face the 3-4 Bills, with both teams having legitimate hopes for a wild-card playoff berth.

If the Bills have “legitimate” hopes for a wild-card playoff berth then every player and coach on the team must have a brain contusion.

The Bills…wild card? Doubt it. I have nothing against them and wouldn’t mind seeing them turn it around, but I don’t see it. Too many injuries, bad QB (Fitzpatrick), bad offensive line, I just can’t see them getting it together.
It is funny, though, how fine a line there is between “legitimate wild card hopes” and “Dick Jauron might get fired”. Everything in this league is relative I guess.

There’s no law against dreaming (yet) but I wouldn’t call Buffalo’s hope legitimate.

I don’t think that injury should be a problem, unless you are, you know, an athlete…

  9. supermex says: Oct 26, 2009 6:47 PM

Hmmm…lets see. With Buffalo’s 3 wins coming against Carolina, the not so impressive Jets and Tampa Bay, they (the Bills) are not that good and don’t have “legitimate hope” of making the playoffs.

The only wild card the Bills will get is in a poker game on the plane on the way home from another loss.
    Playoff? Playoff?

The Bills lost to the Browns…6-3…. at home.
    PLAYOFFS!?

If you bitch about that enough, they send you an e-mail…..
    Then they don’t fix it.
    The effort is nice though.
Oh, and comment voting isn’t coming back. Ever. For some reason.

Well, the Bills should won the 1st game against the Pats w/out Lynch. They have a pretty favorable schedule (until the last three games) and have played hard in every game, except one.
    Stranger things have happened…

I’m not even an amateur athlete, but have experienced a chest contusion, and it was over a week before I could even cough without crying. If he’s out there next week stretching out for passes with guys crashing into his ribs, good for him.

C’mon ya’ll…the Bills are bad but they have a stout defense. The 2000 Ravens showed that defense is key to success.
If these 3 things happen, the Bills can be successful:
    1. Trent Edwards gets benched for checking down all the time (or he grows a pair and throws the ball downfield)
    2. Fitzy quickly gets the ball into Lee Evans’ and TO’s hands.
    3. Juaron grows a pair and makes Marshawn Lynch Fred Jackson’s back-up. Regardless how bad their O-line is, Jackson was doing very well for the first 4 weeks of the season and Buffalo was mildly competitive. Now, Lynch comes back from suspension, takes a hand-off and get’s 3 yards before falling down.
Do the people in hell have a chance of getting ice water before these things happen? No…they would first get a full blown snow storm.

Isn’t it more appropriate to wait until a team is, say 9-5 or 8-6, before saying they’re a legitimate wildcard contender?

Hope that he’s alright–pulmonary contusion is a very, very serious injury. Supposedly there is a 14-40% mortality rate for this kind of injury (think blood, lung, clots… not good), so this is nothing to take lightly. It interferes with oxygen absoption–expect him to miss some time healing from this.

  18. xxGotEmCoachxx says: Oct 26, 2009 8:02 PM

Not sure it’s gonna matter if he misses anyways, Kubiack’s is a born loser. Johnson is one of the top 3 wide recievers in the league and he gets less than 5 targets a game. This guys could screw up a wet dream…..

that’s probly cause all oppos blanket johnson.
if the bills benched she-ho they could make the playoffs.

Andre Johnson is the best WR in the NFL…bar none. Heal quickly my friend.
