Cardinals third-string RB Jason Wright’s six-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter proved to be the deciding score in Sunday’s 24-17 win.
Arizona still has not allowed a first-quarter touchdown all season, and hasn’t surrendered a first-quarter point in four games.
Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin managed 75 receiving yards while playing through a high ankle sprain, but was replaced by Steve Breaston in most two-wideout sets Sunday.
Mike Bordow of the East Valley Tribune predicts that Chris “Beanie” Wells will overtake Tim Hightower as the Cardinals’ primary tailback for the rest of 2009.
Giants QB Eli Manning was picked off three times Sunday, and his only touchdown pass came on throw intended for WR Mario Manningham that eventually found its way into rookie Hakeem Nicks’ arms.
ESPN’s Matt Mosley predicts that Manningham’s drops will “eventually earn him a spot on the bench.”
On a more positive note, Giants LB Danny Clark recorded his first sack since 2005 in the defeat.
And on a more realistic note, LB Antonio Pierce said after the game that the Giants need to “get back to the drawing board” after back-to-back losses.
Mike Florio has even more extensive analysis of this game in his Monday Morning Aftermath column.
