Week Seven Morning Aftermath: Chargers 37, Chiefs 7

In our most recent SportingNews.com 10-pack, we pointed out that, if the Chargers plan to follow another sluggish start with a strong finish, they need to start now.  Not by just edging the Chiefs, but by blowing them out.

And blow them out they did.
The throwback game also featured a throwback to the days of LaDainian Tomlinson’s prime, with the 2006 MVP getting 25 touches.  Still it was Darren Sproles and not L.T. scoring points, a fact that surely will continue to stick in Tomlinson’s craw.
Quarterback Philip Rivers picked the Chiefs apart, with 268 yards and three scores.  And the San Diego defense stepped up, with three interceptions and four sacks.
To make matters worse for the Chiefs, their curious faith in tailback Larry Johnson has been repaid by the kind of meltdown we’ve expected all season from Terrell Owens.
It started on Twitter.  And there’s even more to come, right after I put a bow on this Morning Aftermath thing, and maybe have a hot dog.

LJ runs into the rear of his offensive tackle and then falls down. If he has no one in front of him he will run until he runs into the line backer and falls down. Thats all he can remember to do. Next year the Chiefs will try add to his complicated set of rules to get him to block someone.

congrats to the chargers – i use 3 of them on my fantasy team so i follow & root for them regularly.
that said, LT needs to quit crying. Norv gave LT 4 chances to punch it in and LT couldn’t get it done. Given that, i don’t think LT should cry about being pulled at the goal line anymore.
he made a big stink after failing in two chances last week. norv was nice enough to give him four more and he couldn’t get it done.
the proof is in the pudding, LT. your team scoring is paramount to you getting to pad your stats.

The Chefs are a horrible football team.
As for Tomlinson boo hooing over not scoring TDs, he had plenty of touches and opportunity to do so. Norv kept the guy in no matter how many times he got stuffed at the goal line.
If he was half the dynamic player Sproles is, he’d be kept in on clear passing downs, too.
But he’s not. Sproles can score from anywhere on the field any time he touches the ball. Tomlinson can’t score from the goal line with eight tries.
Game over, LT. You’re still better than Larry Johnson, for what that’s worth.

It’s a little hard to blame LT for this one isn’t it. Everyone knew what that the Chargers were gonna run. I blame this more on Norv’s play calling. Play action on 1st down would have worked every time. Instead he becomes as predictable as always. He would have run Sproles up the middle as well. Great playcalling between the 20′s and terrible in the red zone as always.
