Westbrook exits with concussion

Eagles running back Brian Westbrook has exited Monday night's game against the Redskins with a concussion.

It has been announced that Westbrook will not return.

Westbrook was injured when the knee of Redskins linebacker London Fletcher struck the side of Westbrook's helmet.  His legs were motionless for a few minutes, but he eventually was able to leave the field on his own.

Westbrook's brother, Byron, plays for the Redskins, and he was standing near his brother while trainers evaluated the veteran Philly tailback.

just saw rock run hard to get 1st and goal. skins look like a team that is damn good inside the 20s. on both sides of the ball.

the problem is the other 60 yards of the field.

Wow. Brian Westbrook is injured. That's shocking.

Good thing they have that extra durable QB to shoulder the extra load.

Speaking of which.....have McNabb and Westbrook ever started and finished the same game?

That impact with the knee was an egg scrambler, I hope Westbrook is going to be OK.

I do agree with you in principle about when a runningback in the modern NFL turns 30 he's skills quickly demenish. But I dont agree with you in the case of Westbrook. He is still one of the best backs in the league. He still has all his quickness, speed, agility, strength, and play making ability. His problem is he just gets injured to much. Other older runningbacks simply lose the ability to get it done but not him.

Also I dont think it has anything to do with his age. This is just who Westbrook is. You can only get about 12 full games a year out of him. But when he's in (and Andy actually gives him the ball) he's one the best. As long as he can avoid major injury I think he can be effective in this offense for another 4 or 5 years.

Wow, he almost lasted a whole half a quarter this time.

It sounds like he may have been knocked unconscious for a few minutes.

Definitely, definitely sit for the rest of the game.

He could be out for the year, or done in his career.

    Concussions are that serious.
