Titans owner Bud Adams wants Vince Young to start. Titans fans seemingly want Vince Young to start. But if Titans coach Jeff Fisher wants Young to start, Kerry Collins doesn't know about it.
The team returned from its bye week to practice Tuesday, but comments made last week by Collins indicate that he wasn't expecting a change.
"I haven't gotten any indication from [Fisher] of a change," Collins said.
If the Titans were going to change quarterbacks, wouldn't they have worked Young into the first team more during last week's practice? The Titans practiced last week as they usually would. Of course, maybe Fisher had no plans to make a switch but Adams' plea to play Young didn't happen until the weekend.
Fisher wouldn't reveal who his starting quarterback was Monday, but he did say this about Collins: "Both quarterbacks had a good week, but [Collins] had an especially good week last week."
That statement, combined with Collins' words, makes it appear that Fisher may not give Adams what he wants just yet. The Titans are actually favored Sunday against Jacksonville (no respect!), and Fisher may still see Collins as his best chance to finally get a win.
One thing we feel reasonably certain about: Fisher won't be able to keep his decision a secret until Sunday.

Young got reps with the 1st team last week, so did Collins, and Fisher, Young, and Collins are all mum on a change. What's the news here? Nashville City Paper wrote an article with a week old quote... so maybe the headline should read "Collins didn't receive indication of change as of last week"
Maybe Kerry fell off the Bandwagon after the NE fiasco....ring ring... cluephone.. pick it up Jeff
PLEASE Capt Porn Stash, start Young this weekend!
I hope Fisher stands his ground and keeps Kerry as the quarterback. Nobody was complaining last year about him being the starter. The difference is that last year his receivers were catching some of the passes they are now dropping and the line, even though it is still pretty good, is not giving him as much time in the pocket. Everyone keeps talking about what Vince did as a rookie but that was before some teams faced him and realized all they had to do to beat him was keep him in the pocket and make him win with his arm instead of his legs. He just doesn't have the accuracy needed for the NFL level. I had hopes for him draft day but he just hasn't grown into the job.
Kerry is not this teams problem entirely (59 pts? from a team that avg 9-12 this time last year?? Hello?)
All that said, VY WILL start Sunday. They need the spark and and the man who writes the checks has spoken. Good as done.
Fisher knows that VY can't play but keeps saying that, "Vince is the future," in hopes that some stupid GM will cough up a draftpick for him...I bet they won't waste an early pick in next years draft on a "franchise QB."
if fisher has any dignity, he'll start who he wants to, and not who the owner tells him to.
if the owner wants to coach, the owner can coach.
otherwise let jeff do his thing.
