WR DeSean Jackson ran for a long touchdown and caught another one in the first half of the Eagles’ 27-17 victory.
Outside of Jackson’s two big plays, the Eagles offense didn’t have a great night and finished with only 11 first downs.
Said Eagles coach Andy Reid, “I’m trying to feel like we just won a game. Twenty-seven points, I don’t think that’s bad. That’s not a bad night. Should we have scored a few more in the second half? Absolutely. Can we improve on things? Absolutely.”
Eagles LB Will Witherspoon was busy in his Eagles debut with a sack, a forced fumble, eight tackles and an interception return for a touchdown.
QB Michael Vick completed his first second pass as a member of the Eagles, and ran three times for nine yards.
The switch to Sherman Lewis as playcaller didn’t do much for the Redskins offense since the offensive line couldn’t protect QB Jason Campbell.
Said Campbell of the Redskins injury problems, “At the beginning of two-a-days, we said that if we have injuries on the offensive side of the ball, we’ll be in trouble. That’s where we’re at right now.”
Redskins TE Fred Davis made the most of increased playing time following Chris Cooley’s injury, and finished with eight catches for 78 yards and a touchdown.
Dan Daly of the Washington Times writes that Monday night’s induction of KR Brian Mitchell into the Redskins Ring of Fame was a reminder of how far the franchise has fallen.
Said Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth, “Urgency, heart, ‘want-to,’ whatever. I don’t know. We’re lacking a lot of stuff right now.”
