Westbrook doesn't practice, but hasn't been scratched

On the same day that Congress has taken a close look at the problem of brain injuries in the NFL, the player who most recently had a message for his bird named Ronnie missed practice due to a concussion suffered on Monday night.

But Eagles running back Brian Westbrook isn’t listed as “out” — unlike defensive end Victor Abiamiri (knee), receiver Kevin Curtis (knee), and linebacker Omar Gaither (foot), who already have been scratched for Sunday’s home game against the Giants.

Westbrook also shows up with a knee injury, but the head injury undoubtedly is what kept him out of action.

Also missing practice on Wednesday were safety Macho Harris (ankle), defensive end Darren Howard (ankle, calf), receiver DeSean Jackson (foot), and cornerback Dimitri Patterson (quadricep, hand).

Jackson injured his foot late in the first half of Monday night’s win.  He underwent x-rays at halftime, but he returned to the game.

The following Eagles fully participated in practice, despite injuries: center Nick Cole (knee), guard Todd Herremans (foot), guard Max Jean-Gilles (shoulder), linebacker Akeem Jordan (hip), receiver Jeremy Maclin (foot), tackle Jason Peters (ankle, knee).

    How long has it been since Westbrook has been 100% healthy?
    I’m not trying to be an ass here… I really want to know.

    “How long has it been since Westbrook has been 100% healthy?” The 80′s.

    Mike – it’s been awhile.
    I can’t say I really blame the guy either, since TO left he has pretty well been the #1 running option and the #1 receiving option, the guy has alot mileage on him

    He almost killed my fantasy week. I was down 7 points going into MNF with Westbrook and Birds D left to play. Thankfully Birds D put up some points b/c Westbrook sold me out with the early concussion. He could have at least gotten me some points before getting concussed. Just saying, a TD would have been nice.

    The day before he started playing football.

    CdnMike: very good question. Westy plays hurt, so I would say his rookie year was the last time he was 100% healthy. Same for a lot of running backs and assorted players. Nature of the beast

    @CdnMike – u will probably have to go back to his days at Villanova to answer that…he is the perpetual injury report guy

    @DP
    Same here, except my opponent had the Eagles D and I had Westbrook and barely hung to get the W.

    “Westbrook sold me out with the early concussion.”
    Yes I’m sure Westbrook is really concerned about the impact his getting knocked unconscious had on your fantasy score. He allowed that to happen intentionally just to mess your little game up.
