Drew Brees chimes in on undefeated talk

Saints running back Reggie Bush recently said that he thinks that his team can go undefeated.

“Can we go undefeated?” Bush told Sporting News Radio’s The Monty Show. “Yes. I do think we have the players, the chemistry, we have the heart and dedication, the coaching staff, we have the players.”

On Thursday, Saints quarterback Drew Brees was asked about Bush’s comments.

And then Brees, blending Bush’s words together with similar comments from running back Pierre Thomas, suggested that Bush said something he didn’t say.

“I think what they both said was we have the discipline to take it one game at a time, feeling like we can win each game one at a time, and if you do that enough times, maybe you go undefeated,” Brees said in comments distributed by the team.

But that’s not what Bush said. It’s what Bush should have said, and it’s what Bush surely will say if he’s ever asked that question again -- even if the Saints aren’t still undefeated when the question is asked.
