Browns' Maiava fined for hitting Packers' Jennings

Cleveland Browns linebacker Kaluka Maiava has been fined $5,000 for unnecessary roughness against Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings, the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting.

Maiava drew a 15-yard penalty when he hit Jennings after Jennings caught an 8-yard pass in the third quarter of the Packers’ victory.

The NFL explained the fine by saying, “Specifically, on a pass play, he unnecessarily struck his opponent.”

Maiava said he’ll appeal, adding, “I’m not a dirty player. I was just trying to go for the ball and play hard. It’s the ref’s job to call it like he sees it.”

Maiava, a rookie out of USC, was making his first career start.

Goodell is turning this game into child’s play. Take me back 20 years for real football. Take me back 25 years for high school football that was tougher than this.

I think you meant to say “USC”. If he was really a rookie out of the UFC though, that would go a long way to explaining the hit.

So, do large market teams like the Giants ever get these fines?
When was the last time the Giants, Eagles or Steelers were every fined for a hit?

“Maiava, a rookie out of UFC”
Is that a joke or some weird Freudian slip?
Kaluka Maiava played at USC. He is NOT an ultimate fighting champion.

I absolutely hate the Steelers, but I’m pretty sure Hines “Cheap Shot” Ward gets his share of fines for his dirty play. All teams and players get fined, unless you hit Tom Brady, then you get kicked out of the NFL.

At first I thought you spelled “Mangina” wrong, and then I assumed the $5000 fine was for stealing another bottle of water
I’ve got to read more carefully next time

Great. Now that you edited it, I look stupid instead of you.
Can you edit my initial post to say “Michael’s a cock”?

    “he unnecessarily struck an opponent”
That phrase shouldn’t even be part of football terminology. Ridiculous.
