Glazers are not on the Madoff victim list

A few of you have made an astute observation in the wake of the Thursday controversy involving WDAE radio and the owners of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

WDAE morning host Dan Sileo said that a "friend" with the Securities & Exchange Commission told him the Glazer family had lost more than $400 million via the Bernie Madoff investment scam.  The Glazers strongly have denied that contention.

And so, as those of you who made the astute observation pointed out, the Glazers either were victims of Madoff's scam, or they weren't.

As it turns out, they weren't.

The victim list published by the Huffington Post does not include anyone named Glazer (not even FOX's Jay Glazer, who gets most of his investment advice from kings . . . and queens, jacks, and aces).

And so WDAE wisely has issued a retraction.  Sileo's ultimate fate with the station has not yet been determined.  Currently, he's on suspension pending further investigation.

I still wonder if Dan (Former Buc) will be banned from the Leroy Selmon Ring of Honor Celebration next week! I know how much he was looking forward to seeing all the old Buc's.

Had to be one way or the other, and I'm pretty sure the bankruptcy court HAD to file the list under public record.

Just because their last name doesn't appear on the list means nothing. Investments could have been made through an entity, such as a trust or corporation.

Did they check for anyone named Azerglay?

The victims list only proves that they didn't invest directly with Madoff in their own names. Could have been through a feeder fund (of which there were several) in another form other than a direct investment in the name of a Glazer.

Glazer's denial said "we never invested a penny with Bernard Madoff", that could be 100% accurate and they still could have incurred losses.

If the investments were made through other entitys then someone better come up with some proof fast.
I cant wait to see the outcome of this one.
I quit listening to this station because of similar accusations in the past. Different radio host however. Always starting rumors and storys to keep people calling in , trying to keep the ratings up. Its just a matter of time before someone stops it.
If they have so many connections and sources, then they should be able to show proof.
bring it out boys , lets see it.

This is for your future reference, PFT.

If someone is called "Silly-Oh", you shouldn't trust them.

The only way to get Sileo off of the air was for him to shoot himself in the foot. Thank God he complied. The station manager has no clue as to how bad that show is. He must not listen to it because everyone else in Tampa knows. I won't get into the other local "talent" but it isn't any better. I listen to nationally syndicated sport shows because the local talent is a joke. I hope Sileo is gone so we have better morning options.
Also, Kevin from Pilly, that is a funny post.

"The victim list published by the Huffington Post"

That list was not deemed comprehensive. The Glazers are a holding company themselves, they don't invest in the same way you and I do.

Florida? Glazer facial features? Sources say they got ripped!

Dan Sileo should star in one of those espn spots for obnoxious local radio hosts. He is an overbearing slob of a guy. Thank goodness the radio station yanked him off the air. Now get rid of the second biggest dumbass on that station, Steve Duemig. Tampa must have the worst local sports talent of any major metro area in the country.

lol im glad danny boy got suspended, he just sounds like a fat slob, especially when those hooter and wing house girls go in for a live promotion... i kinda feel sorry for those girls having to put up with that greeseballs comments. and as far as big dog goes, i used to like his show, till i started realizing he was full of crap and he takes favorites to stars like derrick brooks, and anthony mcfarland and says how good they are. i would just listen to dan cause there is nothing else on the radio that early in the morning, and the ron and ianshow is the worse. they have some prick (ron) talking about how he knows everything just cause hes read todays sportsection before the rest of us, and some guy that never been on a winning team in his life (ian) talk about how good he was and who he knows. ian sounds like a white guy trying to talk black , u know the guy that everyone knows he isnt from the hood but still pretends he is. the only reason any of them jokers are on the radio and thats because they talk about nhl and all the snowbirds from up north that come down for the winter like to watch hockey

So they didn't lose money with Bernie.
Doesn't mean they're not in financial trouble.

    Bernie Madoff is a scumbag.

Probably goes without saying. Rot in prison, scumbag.

Just because someone is not on the victims list does not necessarily mean they didn't lose money with Madoff. If you invested $500 million with Madoff, recieved $1 Billion over the years, but still had $500 million in your Madoff account. You "lost" $500 million. However if you filed victim paperwork with the SEC and brought attention to yourself, the SEC can "clawback" whatever you recieved over your initial investment which is why many people did not file as victims. We will not know if they were in with Madoff unless the SEC moves to "clawback" money from them.
