Hardwick getting closer to a return

Though he’s still listed as out for Sunday’s game against the Raiders with a sprained ankle, Chargers center Nick Hardwick could be moving toward returning.

Hardwick practiced twice this week, on Wednesday and Thursday.  The limited-basis sessions marked Hardwick’s first time back on the practice field since suffering the injury in Week One, also against the Raiders.

Linebacker Kevin Burnett (ankle) is doubtful for Sunday’s game, and defensive tackle Ogemdi Nwagbuo (ankle) is questionable.

Defensive lineman Travis Johnson (groin), linebacker Shawne Merriman (foot), and punter Mike Scifres (left groin) are probable.

For the Raiders, linebacker Ricky Brown (ankle), tackle Cornell Green (calf), running back Darren McFadden (knee), and receiver Nick Miller (shin) are out.  Receiver Chaz Schilens (foot) is doubtful.  Defensive end Greg Ellis (knee), guard Robert Gallery (fibula), and tight end Tony Stewart (chest) are questionable.

Quarterback Bruce Gradkowski (illness), cornerback Chris Johnson (groin), receiver Louis Murphy (hip), and defensive tackle Gerard Warren (ribs) are probable.
