The first-place New Orleans Saints will be shorthanded on defense in Monday night's NFC South showdown with the second-place Atlanta Falcons.
Saints defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis, who was carted off the field Sunday with a knee injury, has been listed as out for the game against the Falcons.
Ellis has started all six games this season for a good Saints defense that has been overshadowed by the great Saints offense and hasn't gotten enough credit for the team's undefeated start. Ellis has not practiced at all this week with what Saints coach Sean Payton says is a sprained knee.
Saints linebacker Scott Fujita, who has started five games this season, is listed as questionable with a calf injury.
The Falcons' running game may have some trouble capitalizing on the injuries to the Saints' front seven, as running backs Jerious Norwood and Jason Snelling are both listed as questionable. Falcons running back Aaron Stecker, a former Saint, will play against his former team.
