Bart Scott takes backhanded slap at Dolphins

Jets linebacker Bart Scott, on the heels of his team’s second loss to the Dolphins in less than three weeks, broke out the sarcasm stick when talking about the game.

They’re a great team,” Scott said after the 30-25 defeat, per Tim Graham of ESPN.com.  “They’ll probably contend for the
Super Bowl.  They have a tremendous offense, great running backs, a
great quarterback, a great tight end.  They are stacked across the
board.  I’m serious.  They are great.

“Like I said, they have a great team.  They have a tremendous
offense and they showed it today.  They are Super Bowl contenders and
they will probably take it all the way.”

The point is that Scott thinks the Dolphins aren’t very good.  But what the hell does that say about Scott and his band of paper airplanes?

The Jets are now 4-4 — and they’re a pathetic 1-4 since starting with three wins.  So even if the Dolphins won’t be going to the Super Bowl, the Jets by all appearances won’t be going to the playoffs without 53 tickets.

Maybe the Jets can find a way to pin this losing streak on Favre…..Just like they did last year.

  4. TFBuckFutter says: Nov 1, 2009 9:31 PM

The Jets already won the Super Bowl.
Remember? They beat the Patriots when Brady still was trying to find a groove.
I wonder what happens in Super Bowl II.

  5. Ammo says: Nov 1, 2009 9:32 PM

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Rex Ryan’s frat party in New York will not work. Especially when they have an aging roster and few draft picks to work with.

  6. Boring Tuna says: Nov 1, 2009 9:32 PM

Even if the Dolphins don’t win another game this season, they have the satisfaction of knowing they that they beat Scott and the rest of OTA Super Bowl champions TWICE this year. All Scott and Rex can do now is kick some air.

  7. Deb says: Nov 1, 2009 9:36 PM

I have nothing against the Jets as a whole, but Scott is a jerk of the first order and apparently delusional as well. The saddest thing is that he doesn’t even seem to know how incredibly stupid he sounds. Love to former Steeler Joey P. Success is the best revenge.

  8. prophet of the light says: Nov 1, 2009 9:37 PM

Patriots to dominate both now that Tom Brady is right again.

  9. mlason says: Nov 1, 2009 9:38 PM

what a world class douche! hard to give that team any praise when they are filled to brim with classless people like that

  10. SmackMyVickUp says: Nov 1, 2009 9:39 PM

Classy fellow. Fins beat them home and away, he really doesn’t have any room to talk smack.
Have fun watching the Patriots Bart.

  11. BluntMastermind says: Nov 1, 2009 9:40 PM

What a sore loser. He had not one, but two shots, at the Fins and they couldn’t win. They suck ass and need to go cry in the corner because it’s over.

  12. Florio-is-a-tool says: Nov 1, 2009 9:40 PM

Florio, you have no clue. The J-E-T-S won their Super Bowl in week 2 so they have nothing else to play for and they’re happy about it.
Nice change it atmosphere Buddy Ryan’s son has given them. BTW, how long is the gestation period for those quintuplets he’s carrying?

  13. mfinsrule says: Nov 1, 2009 9:42 PM

Unbelievable! Still talking Smack after you got beat at your own place. Scott is a punk and always has been. Dolphins are on the rise and a lot of young players are getting valuable PT which bodes well for this team in the future. Playoffs would be a monumental achievement with their schedule and current record. But the again I said the same thing last year.

  14. Olacfz says: Nov 1, 2009 9:42 PM

If the Phins suck so much, what does that say about the team that has lost to them twice in the last couple weeks?

  20. Richm2256 says: Nov 1, 2009 9:48 PM

If Scott says the Fins will probably win the Super Bowl, who are we to doubt him, after all the Jets know something about the Super Bowl, they’ve already played in one this year, right?
By the way, are we going to hear this week that Rex Ryan called all season ticket holders and chewed them out for not chearing hard enough the past few weeks?
    Love seeing these blowhards implode.

  21. promin1 says: Nov 1, 2009 9:49 PM

Unreal!! This clown still can’t shut his mouth even after they lose. Again!! The Jets are the only ones that think they are good. The rest of the world knows the truth.

  22. BrownsTown says: Nov 1, 2009 9:52 PM

    Jets 0
    Dolphins 2

  23. csloan99 says: Nov 1, 2009 9:53 PM

It’s safe to say the Jets have the maturity level of a group of 14 year old girls, headed by their 15 year old coach.
Grow the f*ck up and start acting like MEN, not pussy-as* bitches who have nothing better to do than talk shit after TWO losses.

  24. Leo Crow says: Nov 1, 2009 9:57 PM

As a Bills fan, can’t say how happy I am to see the extent to which Rex is rubbing off on his players. With a culture like this, the Jets will never be serious contenders.

  25. LebronJeremy says: Nov 1, 2009 9:59 PM

Hmm. Between Mason blowing up in Baltimore for a call that is regularly missed, Raw Lewis whining open ticky-tack officiating from which his team also benefited, and this classy episode by Scott, I think it’s safe to say that the Rex Ryan culture is one that consists of a lot of whining.

  26. OhioGator82 says: Nov 1, 2009 10:08 PM

The Jets are going through what is called “THE BRAYLON EDWARDS FUNK”

  27. stanjam says: Nov 1, 2009 10:11 PM

I really like it when my predictions work out. Makes me look like I actually know what I am talking about. I said in pre season that all the talking the Jets do would be a major indicator of their eventual collapse. See the same thing in the Chargers. The Chargers over the past few years have been one of the most talented teams in the game. They don’t have any discipline though, and run their mouths. They brag, and then start believing what they say. Then they start feeling like the trophies should just be handed to them instead of being earned, and they fall apart. Same thing with the Jets.
The Jets started talking. What made it worse is it all started from the top down. The coach should know better. Then they start believing the crap they sell, about them being the absolute best in the league, and stop working at it, expecting that winning the games should be a walk in the park. The Jets have imploded, and there isn’t much that can help them at this point. They may be able to work themselves up for a game or two, but that is about it. The sad thing for them (and funny for the rest of us) is that the head coach doesn’t see the problem, as he is a part of it, so it isn’t likely to get fixed.
One other team in the league falls directly into the same category as the Jets and Chargers: The Ravens. They talk and brag, and blame their losses on the refs, and implode. They are another team where the coach is just as guilty as they are, though not to the same degree. Write off those three this year. None of them will make it far.
Stupid that the Jets, who have been trying to duplicate the success of the Patriots, have never figured out why the Pats are so good year adter year. It isn’t the scheme, though their coaching is good. It isn’t their star players, though they are also good (many players who stood out on the Pats went on to be very average with other teams). A HUGE part of what makes the Pats successful and competitive every year is simply discipline. Don’t talk, don’t brag, and never believe the hype, or you sink yourself. Heck, that is what killed them the last SB they were in. They started believing they were that good, and the Giants took advantage. The Pats have always been their best when they felt they had something to prove, and prove on the field, not in front of the camera or at the bank.

I’m a Dolphins fan who feels good about this win. We dominated games against the Colts and Saints for loses (teams a hell of a lot better than the Jets). So we didn’t dominate this game? I guess that makes me a retard for enjoying a “W”.
Even a “retard” can see that the Jets suck, starting with their attitude and going all the way through the rest of their team.

  41. grandavenue says: Nov 1, 2009 11:17 PM

Wow, shocker, the Jets lose, AGAIN and they can’t give credit where credit is due.
They are the biggest bunch of children I’ve ever seen. Matt Leinart thinks they need to be a little less cry baby like.
2-0. Check that out Jets. The team you are implying suck are 2-0 against you.
Losers. That’s why Ryan will never be successful. Head coaches who act like a baby don’t fair well in this league. Well… I suppose there’s a guy in Foxborro who might disagree….
At least 2 coaches in the AFC East are RESPECTABLE!
Scott is ruining the Jungle Karma he had going. I guess that’s what happens when you talk about hurting the opposing QB. Anyone notice Sanchez take those shots he took in this game?! Miami didn’t talk, they left it on the field like MEN. The Jets carried it to the media like pathetic excuses for athletes.

The Dolphins are not going to win the Super Bowl. They’ll probably finish the season 7-9 or 8-8. But they swept the Jets, and now I get to enjoy that delicious, satisfying schadenfreude.

P.S. Hope ol’ Rex didn’t run out of Breyer’s after the Monday Night game. He’s gonna need some tonight.

  45. Ripp says: Nov 1, 2009 11:45 PM

I am a Fins fan and I would be the 1st to tell you that Miami is no SuperBowl team. Why? Because they don’t do the stuff that Champions do like not make mental errors or finish games.
But I also know another thing…..Miami is better than the Jets. How do I know that? Well aside of the sweep Miami dose not have players discrediting teams who just whoop on them because doing that makes you look pathetic specially since Miami did it twice so the jets are twice the losers Miami is. To top it off their head coach is so dumb he dose not know that stats can be miss leading. Of course his team will have better stats on both sides of the ball. There were three straight returns against his team for touch downs so his offense was on the field majority of the time and his defense was off the field for just about the entire third quarter. What a moron! Maybe they should change their name from the NY Jets to the NY Idiots.

  46. mrzazz41387 says: Nov 2, 2009 12:01 AM

You guys are all idiots. Who cares what they are saying, that isn’t why they lost. Hell, Scott is right, we outplayed the Phins on offense, and defense. Who would of thought that our strongest aspect (special teams) would let us down. If you think the Jets suck, you couldn’t be farther from the truth. The Jets are still going to go at least 9-7.

  47. LeeB says: Nov 2, 2009 12:06 AM

I thought we caught a brake with this win to shut down the NYJ trash talk. I guess I was wrong. Can’t wait until tomorrow to hear the insufferable jet fans living in Miami calling the radio station. My Florida is turning into NY south.
They escape from NY but bring their shyt with them since they can’t bring the yankeesmetsrangersknicksjetsgiantsteams. Why don’t they move to Virginia, West Virginia is even better. It’s nice over there right Mike.

  50. VoxVagina says: Nov 2, 2009 12:52 AM

The Jets are good at one thing: talking. They have some of this biggest mouths in the NFL on that team, including the coach. Bart Scott is a total dick and at this point I honestly hope he gets injured. Earlier in the week he but abounty on Henne. This guy is such an ass. No class before, during or after a game. He’s a whiny bitch when they lose and a cocky bitch when they win. I really can’t stand big mouths who can’t even lose with dignity. Bart Scott disgusts me. A loss is a loss, and the Jets are sitting at a pretty little 4-4. Ride that momentum, Jets! All the way to the bottom of the AFC East.

This is the team that cried to league that they were losing to the Steelers because — get this — they had to play night games in Pittsburgh. Yeah, that’s why you lost Ravens, there there. And oh, stop crying little babies, we’ll make those mean mean Steelers play the night game in Baltimore this year. Dry those tears, little babies.
And yes, this really did happen.

  53. Late Night Roach says: Nov 2, 2009 12:59 AM

The jets players and fans are second rate humans who cant man up and admit that they suck. Both the head coach and players take these backhanded, passive aggressive, bitchass (yeah I said it) shots at a team that put them down twice. Rex Ryan is a loud mouthed douche that will never amount to anything in this league but a decent d coordinator.
Bart, Calvin, Rex – here’s to you two time losers.
It wasn’t pretty, but it’s a W. Rex might not want to be in our locker room “going forward”, but that’s ok cause his fat ass wouldn’t even fit through the door, and at least our team is going forward.

  66. tropicalbamboo says: Nov 2, 2009 9:21 AM

    A few thoughts….
The Jets spent so much time working on stopping the Wildcat they left themselves vunerable in other areas…..the Wildcat doesn’t have to work to be effective.
Miami’s offensive totals were surely compromised by their special teams and defense taking nearly all of their third quarter snaps (and gaining 300+ return yards).
The Dolphin defense was exhausted after that third quarter. Two KO returns and one defensive TD kept them on the field.
The Dolphin defensive coordinator oddly stopped blitzing Sanchez in the second half after the Dolphing took the lead. Sanchez was battered and confused in the first half and, lucky for him, had a couple of drops by Dolphin defenders.

  67. finsbooyah says: Nov 2, 2009 10:51 AM

Jet fans need to realize something… Miami beat you twice this year! They are the better team, plain and simple.
In the first game Miami played to their strength (the Wildcat) and won the game.
Sunday, the Jets shut down the Dolphins strength, yet Miami still found a way to win. Of course you outgained the Dolphins, two special teams TD’s and one Defensive TD kept Miami’s offense on the sideline basically the enire 3rd quarter. It’s kinda hard to put up numbers when you’re not on the field. Then I recall Henne leading Miami on a TD drive to extend the lead when the game was on the line.
Stop making excuses, you had two chances to back up your loose lips and failed to do so. I’ve never in my life heard of a team claiming to be better than someone who beat them twice in the same season.
PS. Hey Bart Scott, Henne feels fine.

  68. TheBigOldDog says: Nov 2, 2009 11:53 AM

Bart Scott and Rex Ryan are perfect for each other. Both are classless loudmouths who, when push comes to shove, can’t backup their big mouths.
