The Panthers will enjoy this one.
Carolina exacted a measure of revenge for its playoff loss last season with a 34-21 win over the heavily favored Cardinals in Arizona Sunday. The loss may have come with a price, however, with Jake Delhomme leaving in the fourth quarter with a "chest" injury.
Backup Matt Moore replaced Delhomme for a series in the third quarter, then Delhomme returned to gut out two series. Delhomme went to the locker room midway through the fourth quarter, and Moore came in to hand the ball off to DeAngelo Williams and get out of the way.
Handing off is Delhomme did best in this game as well; he finished with 90 yards passing and a touchdown on 14 attempts. Carolina rushed for 270 yards, including two scores from Jonathan Stewart, exposing a Cardinals defense that previously was outstanding against ground attacks.
Carolina, now 3-4, may not make another playoff push. But they will savor this victory.
Arizona, meanwhile, will wonder about the two-game lead they could have built in the NFC West. The Cardinals defense has undoubtedly made strides this year, but this game was proof that their old inconsistency hasn't totally been cured.
Delhomme leaves late in satisfying win

Some would agrue that Delhomme being out isn't a bad thing.
Yes, but the cards are still in first place. But in fairness, florio is right. Cards have not been consistent and they deserved this loss. Carolina earned the win on the road. But we sill have no vikings pack article. This is another time filler.
Dont forget your spell/grammar checker...
This story is fair in that it points out the Cardinals laid an egg.
The Panthers, though... wow. That team for years now has been up and down. They played great today. They'll probably play terrible the next couple games to make up for it.
AZ has to figure out what happened. I can't believe Kurt Warner threw 5 interceptions. It's games like this that cause people to pause when the words "Hall of Fame" come up.
