Starting for the first time in more than a year, Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young is having a big game today in Jacksonville.
Young is showing off both the running ability he's long been known for and surprising accuracy on his passes against the Jaguars. Midway through the second quarter, he's completed 10 of 12 passes for 80 yards, with no interceptions. He also has 25 rushing yards.
Young threw a particularly impressive pass on a fade route in the end zone to Nate Washington, putting nice touch on his ball and hitting Washington for a six-yard touchdown.
The previously winless Titans are leading the Jaguars 13-0.

And LenDale White made nice with the Terrible Towel :-)
Haha.
I hope he can play pretty well the rest of the season. Maybe go 6-4 with a passer rating around 80.
Then the Titans won't draft a QB, and they will be in the same predicament when he turns to crap again.
(Although lets see how he performs against a better team).
Good for him though.
I can't believe there are still people who do not belief in the Curse of the Terrible Towel.
Yeah, Vince Young looks pretty good...against the freaking Jaguars...wake me up when he plays well against a real team.
Vince Young is and always has been a winner. Don't bother looking at his stats -- look at his Ws and Ls.
Okay, Titans, the curse was lifted. Now you have an even chance to win games instead of "no" chance. It's up to YOU now.
Go Vince! No doubt - VY was and is a winner. Makes plays happen. Puts Ws up on the board for the Titans. What the heck has Fisher been thinking - what a fool to wait until now to start Vince when Collins has been floundering so badly and Vince was always a proven WINNER!
The better Young does, the worse Fisher looks.
MDS must not have been watching when VY threw a perfect pass to a wide open man in the end zone... too bad it was the Jags DB and the guy dropped a ball that hit him in the stomach. If he makes that pick, the Titans dont score that drive. MDS also missed the pass VY threw right at a Jaguar that dropped back in a zone. Just like the commentator said, if the pass would have actually been going to the receiver, the defensive player would have had the INT and a walk-in touchdown.
Vince Young IS a winner.
When he plays losers.
I just ran the numbers. He has 18 career wins, and of those, 4 are against teams that finished above .500 (one of those against the Colts the last week of the season when Peyton was pulled at halftime and they won by 6 points.)
Combined opposing teams record: 129 - 159: .448
Just sayin.
Boy - talk about digging, digging for any stats you can find.
I'll give you a stat: W is better than L.
Oh look - 29 to 13 Titans now.
What were they before Vince started? - I believe it was OH FOR SIX or something?...
Well - here he is back in the saddle, and they are finally going to put up another what?.....
*** W ***
Sorry that you think it's "digging" to point out that his Wins almost universally come against bad teams.
"Digging" would be pointing out that his wins came against teams that finished, on average, 18th in the NFL in points allowed.
5 wins against top 10 defenses (one when Indy just handed them a game they didn't need and 2 against teams that finished exactly 10th.)
And I don't see today's win against Jacksonville helping those averages much.
rico sucks. no news there.
I am VERY happy for the guy. This is cool.
30 to 13 = "W". Finally.
Bout time for the Titans. No brainer to put Young back in where he belongs.
A winner is a winner is a winner. Vince Young is a winner. Period.
Vince Young a winner?
Your definition of winner is a bit shortsided.
Winners don't pout when they get benched.
Winners don't run away from home when they get booed.
Winners don't make suicidal notions when things don't go their way.
Young was simply fortunate he was playing the Jags, at home, and that CJ went off for two long TD's and 220+ yards rushing. Fifteen completions for 125 yards? Way to air it out, Rico.
The problem in Tennessee was not the QB play. It says a lot that Fisher remains in Collins corner, don't you think?
What, all of a sudden you people think Vince Young was Johnny Unitas all along? What short memories you Titans fans have.
Dude sucked, and Collins lead that team to a fantastic season. VY was on the bench all that time because that's where he BELONGED!
The Titans came into this game allowing 33 points per game. They only allowed 13 today. Yea Vince played okay, but c'mon...defense only allowing 13 points is why they won. They would have won with Collins playing....people are quick to cream their jeans over VY.
You know who else is looking good? Chris Johnson.
That probably helped VY out a bit today.
Hate him all you want. Yo losers - yet another win for Vince!!!
It truly warms my heart to see all the Vince Young haters and doubters have to eat a large plate of crow.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: MJD 8 carries and didn't touch the ball until the Jags 3rd series. UNEXCEPTABLE. Del Rio old school way of thinking is done. Dirk Koetter horrible play calling is done. When is this team going to start looking like an NFL team? hat is so hard about beating the teams you are suppose to beat? I don't understand it.
How will you ever compete in this division when you LOSE to Seattle, go into OVERTIME with the at the time 0-6 Rams, LOSE horribly to the 0-7 Titans, and NO DOUBT will lose to the Chiefs next week. RIDICULOUS!!! No wonder you can't sell tickets. Pathetic excuse of a team.
This entire coaching staff need a makeover. The talent is there. The offense weapons re there. We got a window that needs to be opened and with this staff it will ALWAYS remained shut. This staff has no CREATIVITY offensively. Has no direction defensivly. MJD had 8 carries in an entire game. Why does he not have 25-30 touches a game like all the other top RB in the league. The is no way Garrad should no have top 10 QB numbers with the recievers that are finally with this organization. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
Wayne Weaver, man up, become a REAL owner and do the fans of this team a favor and gut this coaching staff inside out. Bring in a HOLGREN, COHWER, SHANNAHAN, but particularly JON GRUDEN who have an offensive vision of what an NFL team is suppose to look like. If not, you might as well move to LA, London or BFE Egypt for all I care. PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree w/ Jags4Life- Someone needs to tell the Jags that this is "Pocket Hercules'" team.
That being said, the Titans' win isn't a fluke. It's actually pretty smart playing Vince Young and it should have happened at least a game ago. Why? Not because Vince Young is some great QB. I think he could be better under the tutelage of someone else. I think he's at about the same level as when he first came out of college- and that's a step up from last year. That's the problem... he has regressed since Texas.
But watch this: the Titans won the game because Vince Young was under center for one reason: The Jags linebackers had to account for Vince's running ability. Therefore, they didn't drop back into coverage as great. There was one linebacker not hunting down Chris Johnson- allowing Chris Johnson to have a banner day. And the DE couldn't just fly to the QB, but they had to account for VY's speed.
That's what running ability and speed at QB does to the defense.
what did i tell you guys vince young is good and its funney how all of you guys are likeing him now. if vince was in at the begening of the seasion we would have had only 1 lose and we would have went to the play offs we still might look at vince youngs rookie year carry did win one game and vince won all of theme but one we could be 10-6 or 9-7
