Bengals announce that they need to move 4,500 tickets

As the 5-2 Bengals prepare for an AFC North showdown with the 4-3 Ravens, the Bengals have sounded the alarm.

A whopping 4,500 tickets remain for Sunday's game at Paul Brown Stadium.

Three weeks ago, the Bengals obtained a 24-hour extension of the 72-hour to sell 3,000 tickets.  In the end, Motorola and receiver Chad Ochocinco teamed up to buy the remaining 1,200 seats.

All non-premium seats must be sold within 72 hours before kickoff, subject to any extensions that the league office might grant.

And the Browns are the team that moved to Baltimore. What a disgrace Bengal fans.

  2. Jungle Juice says: November 2, 2009 8:27 PM

If anyone should know about disgrace, it's a Brown's fan.
Unemployment around Cincy is around 11%. We still have like a 48 game sellout streak going

Once you turn off a fan base, Mike Brown, it is much tougher to get them back.

It takes more than a few lucky wins for half a season because people know Mike Brown.

  4. HughJassPhD says: November 2, 2009 8:41 PM

    Cincy is 5 & 2? How'd that happen?

  5. Cincy Pain says: November 2, 2009 8:42 PM

This is pathetic. We should be ashamed of ourselves, but after hearing this I will buy a ticket and go to the game

I'm surprised a Browns fan knows how to operate a computer? Nevermind, I'm sure his minders helped.

  7. ampats says: November 2, 2009 9:00 PM

What is the problem that the Bengals have selling out despite having a good season?

  8. CharmCityRavens says: November 2, 2009 9:15 PM

Don't worry Cincy fans, we've rented the buses and reserved some kegs for the ride...help from Ravens fans is on the way!!!

  9. Patsfan1776 says: November 2, 2009 9:19 PM

Regardless of what you read in the newspapers, the economy is still tanking.

  10. frox says: November 2, 2009 9:22 PM

Snatch up the tickets Ravens fans and make the trip. Huge game!!

  11. silverreign says: November 2, 2009 9:25 PM

every week..."the Bengals aren't going to sell out." every week, for 6 years, the Bengals sell out and the genius Cleveland fans come on here and say something dumb.

  12. GoBears84 says: November 2, 2009 9:27 PM

jungle juice, thanks to chad and motorola....and whoever else buys the thousands of unsold tickets every other week.

  13. jc90x6 says: November 2, 2009 9:35 PM

Look, here's the problem this year. After the 4-11-1 debacle last year, literally thousands of fans dumped their season tickets. Everyone is so sick of Mike Brown's pathetic management of this team. How many fans are going to plunk down a few thousand for a seat license in this economy? It has just left too many seats to fill. Every team lives and dies with their season ticket base and the Bengals were hit hard last year. This is the first year in many years that it has come down to the wire each week. Browns fan...what a joke! If it's Brown - flush it down. Come on down Ravens, see your ass beating in person!
PS- Tell Ray to leave his knife at home

  14. Eddie Drycleaner says: November 2, 2009 9:42 PM

If I lived there, I'd buy a ticket.

I wouldn't go, its much better to watch at home and watch all the other games as well, but I'd support the Bungles Bengals.

Besides, a $60 ticket is worth it to stay home and save money on parking/beer/food/disorderly conduct and public urination charges.

As the great Herman Edwards once said, "WE CAN DO THIS!"(With apologies to Bill Simmons)

You'd think the financially fortunate community leaders(are there any left in Cincy? Was there a financially fortunate non NFL player EVER in Cincy?) could fork over the cash to sell it out and give away to charity. It's a great PR stunt, and a wonderful little tax deduction.

Hey Ohio, is your river burning, or are you just happy to see me?

    I'm just sayin'.

(Ravens win 30-27 on a last second field goal. Ravens D scores at least one defensive TD. That's right, I'm calling my shot.)

  15. DC_Bengals_Fan says: November 2, 2009 10:10 PM

Completely incoherent there Drycleaner. You been sniffing glue, or what? Especially liked this nugget...

"Hey Ohio, is your river burning, or are you just happy to see me?"

Hey genius, it was the Cuyahoga that caught fire. In Cleveland. You know, where you gifted Ravens fans bought/stole your team from. And lemme tell you, that team still has the stink of Cleveland (and their steamer) all over it.

  16. Mikebrown_suckit says: November 2, 2009 10:27 PM

Good one DRYcleaner. I guess your fortunate money wise that you dont go to games. Call your shots in 3rd place dumb ass. Awesome comment on the river, I guess you really told those Cleveland fans off since you know it happened in Cleveland. You should at least tell them thanks for the team.

    PITTSBURGH STEELERS!!!!

I have nothing to add to this, I just felt someone needed to mention the Steelers since Florio must have forgotten to sneak it in to the article.

    Go Steelers!!!

  18. Mikebrown_suckit says: November 2, 2009 11:11 PM

Yep just what the article needed was a humble steelers fan comment. Glad you added your 2 cents. I'm sure you have nothing to add to a lot of things. Dont you have a steelers blog that you can get your rocks off on reading and adding nothing to? Let florio continue with his love affair of the Bengals tickets situation week after week without a very humble steelers fan making a stupid comment.

  19. Jungle Juice says: November 2, 2009 11:59 PM

No, GoBears84, Thank YOU for allowing us to put such a whoopin on your "team" last week. We appreciate it.

  20. Ollie says: November 3, 2009 7:35 AM

I live in Cincinnati and the Bengals start this black out bull crap every week to try and scare people into buying tickets instead of watching at home. In the end some company will buy the tickets and they know it. Go Steelers!!!!

  21. SteelCurtnDee says: November 3, 2009 7:43 AM

How can you bungle fans really hang your hat on a sell-out streak, and talk about how you've sold out every game when it's only because Chad and Motorola, and Krogers have bought a few thousand tickets every game...

Only Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Chicago were real sellouts... and that's because those teams have REAL fans.

Don't sit there and give BS about the economy too, the economy is bad everywhere, not just in Cincinnati. People aren't buying tickets because they don't give a crap about the Bengals.

  22. copes cabana says: November 3, 2009 8:23 AM

I have been against the economy argument the whole time, standing on the ground that it is bad everywhere. But jc90x6 does make a good point. If they lost a lot of season ticket holders last year, it would be hard to get that initial season ticket purchase back in tough times. when you are already paying an amount yearly, you are expecting the purchase. to have to shell it out all over again to get back in the stands is hard to do. However, If they had faith in the organization (not this years team, but the year in year out success or growth in success) people would see it also as a good investment. In the late eighties when the Steelers STUNK people held onto the belief that the Rooneys would turn it around and we would have a good team soon. Bengals fans just can not put that kind of faith in Mike Brown, and I can't blame them for that.
I'll still be a typical jerk Steelers fan and call them bandwagon fans when I see them though.
    :-)

  23. sportsfan says: November 3, 2009 8:29 AM

If you are going to mention teams that sellout every game, you need to mention the Packers. Every seat in the stadium is a season ticket holder and there is a 30 year waiting list just to be eligible for season tickets. Lambeau Field will always sell all the tickets and the games will never be subject to a blackout.

As far as the AFC North, everyone except the Browns has a real shot at that division. That will be a fun division to watch.

  24. falstaff1962 says: November 3, 2009 9:41 AM

I've said this before, but once again- when there are consistantly 3 or 4 games each week in danger of blackout, then the problem is bigger than just saying a particular fan base doesn't support their team. The NFL has outpriced the average person and they need to watch out. Eroding fan bases all over the country are the first warning signs that maybe things aren't as rosy in the NFL as they once were. And let's face it- 17 teams aren't going to be able to up and move to LA or London because they don't get enough love from the fans.

  25. CurseofBoJackson says: November 3, 2009 11:10 AM

Hey jackasses, Paul Brown stadium is not selling out without help because fans in this city are sick to their death about how poorly this franchise has been run for the better part of 20 years. What equates to a 6 year sellout streak in the midst of MANY abysmal seasons points not to a lack of "real fans" (I love how douchbags use this term to attempt to condemn other fans), but rather to an abundance of "real fans" who are attempting to affect a change in the front office the only way they can. Bears fan, your team is sad, worry about them, Forte gonna have a 100 yard day this year? Cutler gonna throw fewer than three pick in a game?
Steeler fan, same tune, worry about your team, you LOST to the Bengals already, and you'll lose again in two weeks.
Ravens fan, please come sell the stadium out so I can watch Flacco put on another magic show like he did in B-more a few weeks ago. Talk about a sophomore slump, you're so lucky to have Ray Rice, your team is nothing without him. Bring your sorry excuses for corners too, Chad and Bubba are hungry.

Just got my tickets. Looking forward to a good game and some good chili. How's the Cincy night life?

  27. DC_Bengals_Fan says: November 3, 2009 11:47 AM

" The NFL has outpriced the average person and they need to watch out."

That's absolutely true. Ticket prices have risen much faster than inflation. You're looking at at least $300, usually more like $500 or more, to take a family of four to a game. Add PSL and useless preseason games for season tickets.

At the same time, these new stadiums are sterile and concessions cost a fortune. And they're driving away tailgaters - their best fans.

Meanwhile, games look great on 50" HD...
