Browns address Kokinis situation

After hours of silence, the Cleveland Browns finally have addressed the status of G.M. George Kokinis.

And he can now officially be called former G.M. George Kokinis.

Said the team in a statement issued roughly 10 minutes ago:  "Cleveland Browns General Manager George Kokinis is no longer actively involved with the organization.  In response to rumors and reports that Kokinis was escorted out of the building today, the Browns deny those reports.  In the interest of protecting the parties involved we will withhold further comment."

The denial of the notion that Kokinis was escorted out of the building is curious, given that the rumors and reports uniformly have included a suggestion that Kokinis was walked out by a member of the Human Resources staff.

So it might simply be a matter of semantics, with the Browns applying a narrow definition to the term "escort."

Thus, it's safe to say that Kokinis was not led to his car by a date.

Dismissal with cause. Let's see, huuummm, maybe George can pull a Constanza and claim he didn't know he couldn't do the horizontal tango with Erin.

Kosar will eventually be the next GM. Just heard that on the news (WKYC Sports) Ernie Accorsi (sp) is being brought in to mentor Kosar.

Here was the official statement from Kokinis, "I uh think uh, uh that uh I uh you know uh, I uh uh, we uh no uh play so uh good uh. Uh I uh uh thought uh uh uh we uh could uh have uh uh played uh better uh. I'm uh a uh uh drooling uh horses uh uh ass,"

So long uh, numbnuts. Don't, uh, let the door hit you in the uh, backside.

What exactly did Kokinis do? I don't mean to get fired, but for the organization? I thought Mangini had total control of all football operations, including personnel. So that would mean, under traditional definitions, that Kokinis managed scouting, the cap and contracts-- none of which can be blamed for any tangible impact on the team's performance this year.

If that's case, then isn't this sort of a pointless and empty gesture on Lerner's part...sort of like shooting a castrated man for knocking up your daughter?

I know in Denver, its not exactly clear where the division of power between McD and Xanders is when it comes to personnel. However, I seem to remember Lerner clarifying that Mangini was basically the Football Operations Czar.

    Just wondering...

Hmmm, "escort" "date"...I'll take hooker for $500, Alex.

Maybe Lerner will let the new guy fire Mangini.

You guys need to bring in new blood in the worst way. That means no one from the Baltimore organization (as it is clear that Savage and Kokinis were failures) and if/when you finally dump Mangini on his head, no one from the Pats this time.

In the meantime, enjoy the Pats rolling on to another title...

Pick up Mangini's drycleaning, get his coffee, shine his shoes....

Well I sure hope that Kokenis took the opportunity to steam a whole bunch of stuff on his way out the door. Surely mangini wouldn't have a problem with that would he?
