Bud Adams: We don't let coaches go early

Titans owner/quarterback coordinator Bud Adams doesn't often speak to the media, but he certainly doesn't hold back when he does.

After reports surfaced that coach Jeff Fisher's job would be evaluated at the end of the year, Adams appeared to soften his stance after Tennessee's first win of the season.

"He's under contract here for several years. We just don't let guys go earlier than their contracts [when it comes to] coaches," Adams said.

Well, then.  Perhaps Adams wouldn't consider firing Fisher, but ESPN's Adam Schefter raised the scenario of another team taking Fisher's contract off Adams' hands.  It wouldn't be a trade, just a chance for the Titans to start over without any financial responsibilities.

The Titans also have to decide what to do with Vince Young's contract.

"That's what I came up here for, to get that big tall guy named Vince Young to show what he can do.  You know he hasn't played that much, his contract is coming up pretty soon for renewal," Adams said.  "We need to see what he can do and he kind of proved today that he can do it. That's the main thing I wanted to see."

Young clearly has to win over his head coach and the rest of the organization, but Adams sounds like he's open-minded to Young's future in Tennessee based on how he plays the rest of this season.

"We've got to find out how he has developed over the last two years, he hasn't played that much. We've got to get him in and find out what he can do because otherwise, we're going to have a high draft choice and we better be looking for another new quarterback," Adams continued.

"I'm not saying [Jeff Fisher] did or didn't wait too long, I just go by the scores. The scores looked not too good when you're 0-6."

And even though Young was only a small part of the team's victory Sunday, he enjoyed a remarkably clean first start of the season.  Nine to go.

mean d..your a hater, but i forgive you because haters are going to hate. you can try and say chris johnson won the game but the fact is he had a game thats compared to sundays in weeks 2 and we lost but when when he had the game with vy we won..i love hater though so keeo it up

They need to let VY run the option... If thats the QB Adams wants then run the style of offense that made him a first rd QB. Jeff doesn't seem to care if he makes it -- so run the Triple option or Spread option with White inside and VY and Chris Johnson taking the flank.. would scare a lot of teams and leave receivers open in the secondary

Dan Snyder just called. he said he'll give Bud Adams 3 first round picks for Kerry Collins and pay Kerry 88 million over four years...................................

signed, bitter redskins fan who'd love to take fisher off tennessee's hands

    It's simple.

Trade Jeff Fisher for a draft pick. Keep Vince and give him the quarterback job.

The Bud Adams haters are out in force. Like him or not, he's one of the game's founders, an industrialist, an oil man, an achiever, and he knows what he wants and has the means to get it. Like him or not, he's still the owner; when he passes, he'll likely leave the team to lesser talents.

As for VY, he's not the intellectual Peyton Manning-style QB, but if he can get 'er done, I'm all for him. Collins is past his prime. It's time for him to do the job he was first hired to do...backup Vince Young.

Jeff Fisher seems as bemused as many of the fans were to see VY perform well. Maybe VY gave Fish a new lease on his job. Oh, and sorry bake, Fish likes it here in Tennessee. Living DC and it's surrounding environs would be like digging ditches in Dante's Eight Circle, comparatively speaking.

    Let's see...................

Fired Bum Phillips on Christmas Eve

Fired Jack Pardee in 1994 after 11-5, 10-6, and 12-4 seasons.

Let him have VY and fire Fisher, probably the best coach he has had. Maybe the rest of the country will find out how much of a douche Adams is. He was Dan Snyder before Snyder.

If Fish has any brains, he'll bail from any team that has Young on it. I can't believe the whole town is acting like they won the SB. What, they beat the Jags? Wonder how crazy this town will go if they beat the Redskins, the Rams, Browns, or Lions this year. Pathetic!

This is all because they stepped on the terrible towel!

    Oh wait....

    Nevermind.

Seriously, I'm fully expecting for Fisher to move on. I'll be sad to see him go but I won't blame him. So will history show that VY was the cause of Fisher to leave? It just goes to show what can happen with a big QB draft bust.

This is all Jeff Fisher's Fault!! These idiots went into camp acting like they were Super Bowl champs and they had their butts handed to them right off the bat!! Jeff Fisher Sucks and so do his quarterbacks!! Keep that Peyton Manning Jersey on Jeffrey!!
