A day after the San Diego Chargers inserted receiver Malcom Floyd into the starting lineup in place of veteran Chris Chambers, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Chargers have severed ties with the man they acquired from the Dolphins in 2007 for a second-round draft pick.
Since the trading deadline has passed, Chambers will be required to pass through waivers. Anyone who takes him, however, would be required to pick up the balance of his $4.55 million balance salary. (With nine weeks left, the unpaid amount is $2.4 million.)
On Sunday, Chambers had one catch for 20 yards; Floyd had two for 64.

so i guess that was a good fantasy pick up i made this morning.
"Mr. Chambers, don't get on that ship! To Serve Man, it's.......... it's a cookbook!" - episode of The Twilight Zone
Wow.
There's a shocker. His lack of 'nads and heart show up even against the backdrop of the Chargers as a whole.
Come to think of it, that's probably why it took nine weeks...he fit in there a little better than he would most places. The Chargers provide good camo for a guy like that.
Soon-To-Be-Breaking News...Kansas City Chiefs sign WR Chris Chambers.
oh nevermind - just saw that salary.
$2.5M is too much to rent him the rest of the year. If he clears waivers, isn't that contract done? So then i should have rephrased my last comment:
"Hopefully he clears waivers and THEN the dolphins consider signing him"
The Dolphins got Chad Henne for what was left of Chambers, that was a pretty good deal.
this isnt that surprising. I am not even a Chargers fan but clearly he was being fizzled out of their offense. As strong as a passing attack and he wasn't contributing. And he is expensive. This makes sense. I wouldn't be surprised if a decent team in need of WRs take him, like his old team Miami, possibly the Jets, the jaguars, or maybe even Baltimore. He may stay unemployed, just like Marvin Harrison.
here we go lions here we go
I think he will go to the Bears. Remember there #1 WR is a former CB.
I want to thank Chambers for his short stay with the Chargers. Before we aquired him, V. Jax and company were still developing and it seems as thought Chris was a very positive influence on these young guys. Good luck Chambers.
Dolphins need to get this guy back right now!
Perhaps Cam Cameron will bring him into Baltimore for a look. He's 32, but still runs nice routes. He was replaced by Malcom Floyd who has the best hands on the team. It comes down to the fact that he wasn't 6'5". Rivers needs tall receivers to throw to because more often than not, he's under siege from the pass rush since his Offensive line is, well, offensive. He seems to chuck it down field and let his guys out jump the defenders. Chanbers at 5'10" - 5'11" wasn't capable of doing that.
Best of luck to him. He was a much-needed addition to the receiving corps in '07 and helped the Chargers go deep into the playoffs that year.
Wish you the best, Chris. Ever since that high ankle sprain last year, you have been less productive than a donkey in a horserace. But AJ Smith wants to try his hardest to avoid criticism for drafting Craig "Bust" Davis in the first round and not getting any results when he could have drafted Sidney Rice or Anthony Gonzalez
Honestly, I think the Panthers should give Chambers a shot. He could help the passing game a lot if he were able to fit into a slot type position for a lesser salary than he's gotten in SD and Miami. If the Panthers are going for the "win now" theme he would be at least worth a look bringing him in for a couple of practices.
IMO cut Jarrett and insert Chambers into the roster. I've defended Jarrett said keep Jarrett because this is his make it or break it year but he's still not producing and all he is, is a low salary 4th reciever at this point. He cant return kicks or punts and dosnt play special teams. Chambers is a bigger target and threat. It could be part of Delhomme/Carolinas resurgance
Looks like the dolphins pulled the plug on chambers at the right time a few years ago.. i was very upset when the trade happened but looking back it may be the ONLY smart move Cam Cameron and that regime made. I also wouldnt mind if we "Jason Taylor" them and sign him back after we traded him for a 2nd rounder.. he could contribute as a 2nd or 3rd WR and the fans here in miami always loved chambers

C'MON DOWN TO MIAMI CHRIS!!! GO FINS!!!
Does anyone really think the Dolphins would take on Chambers again?
Why would they add another fickle fingered wide receiver when they already have Tedd Ginn Jr?
I really hope the Dolphins pick up Chris Chambers. I was praying for us to go after Bowe of Kansas City at the trade deadline but nothing...and then out of nowhere comes this cut from the Chargers. It has to be the sign I was praying for. I dont hate Tedd Ginn Jr cause he is stuck with us for the time being so I only want him to succeed but I really want to give him some more help and give Henne more help. Come on Bill.
