Sedrick Ellis expected to miss 4-6 weeks

For a top-ten pick in the 2008 draft, Saints defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis has operated under the radar.  That’s just what happens to interior linemen.

Folks may start to understand Ellis’ value more now that he’s out for the next 4-6 weeks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.  Ellis had been enjoying a strong second season and is probably the key to New Orleans’ improved rush defense.

Ellis has a sprained MCL, but should recover without surgery.  Anthony Hargrove will fill-in for him; look for the Falcons to test New Orleans’ rush defense on Monday night.

Sedrick Ellis was playing good this season. Glad to see that he doesn’t need surgery and will miss “only” 4-6 weeks. That would put him back in time for the second Atlanta game and the Cowboys game.
The Saints have to keep on winning to secure a first round bye and to get the Number 1 seed over the Vikings. I would hate to have to play at Minnesota in the NFC Championship Game with all that artificial crowd noise pumped over the loudspeakers, but I would guess that the Viking will get knocked out in their first playoff game anyway, probably by the Eagles.

hahahaha, artificial crowd noise… are you kidding me? Assuming of course that both teams make it to the NFC championship game, I’d be more worried about our run offense and killer defense to shut you completely down then i would be about any noise. Allen would have brees taking a knee to avoid the hits in no time.

    DocBG:
I think the game would be a good one, but the Vikings have a history of pumping crowd noise over the loudspeakers in the Metrodome.
The only team in the NFC that worries me at all, is the Vikings. It will be interesting to see how Favre holds up over 16 games. Last year he started to break down about this time.
Barring injury, I don’t see how the Saints and Vikings don’t meet in the NFC Championship Game. I just hope it is in New Orleans. I think both teams are pretty close and the home team would have the advantage.

how is their depth? can they stand a lose of an olinemen or one of their DL.
