Brett Favre named NFC offensive player of the week

In news that will serve to rub salt in the wounds of Green Bay fans, Vikings quarterback Brett Favre has been named the NFC offensive player of the week.

Favre earned the award with a four-touchdown performance at Lambeau Field, leading the Vikings to a 38-26 victory over the Packers.

In two games against his former team, Favre has accumulated a 135.9 passer rating, completing 41 of 59 passes for 515 yards, with seven touchdowns and no interceptions. He’s been the NFC offensive player of the week after both games.

This marks the 15th time in Favre’s career that he has won a player of the week award: He was NFC offensive player of the week 11 times as a Packer, AFC offensive player of the week twice with the Jets last year, and now he’s earned the award twice as a Viking.
