Jarvis Green has knee surgery

Patriots defensive end Jarvis Green, who inherited a starting job once Richard Seymour was exiled to Oakland, will be out for the immediate future.

According to Tom Curran, who started his new gig Monday with CSNNE.com, Green underwent knee surgery last week.

Curran says that Green will be out until early December.  Our former Sporting News colleague Albert Breer, who's now covering the Patriots for the Boston Globe, writes that Green possibly could be back from the procedure to repair his meniscus in time for the November 15 game against the Colts.

The Patriots were idle during Week Eight.  On Sunday, they host the Dolphins.

    No big deal. They can get a 40 something year old out of retirement to fill his spot. Bill Maas available? Michael Sinclair?

    So Green does a pre-taped Sunday night weekly segment for WJAR-TV Channel 10 called "First and Ten", and either they didn't know he either just had - or was about to undergo - surgery, or they knew and didn't pass that along to their audience?

    Another fine job, Frank Carpano.

    When I first saw this headline i was pretty depressed.....after reading the entire article I feel really great....JG is an awesome player & it will be good to have him back rested & healthy in December.....sounds like a fairly simple procedure & it will give some of the younger guys more real game time experience.....the Pats are deep in this area so I'm not too worried....

    This injury does not bode too well for the Pats seeing that Jarvis Green is their best pass rushing d-lineman. Derrick Burgess has to step it up to help Tully B-C with pressuring the QB.

    I think the most logical replacement at this point would be Mark Gastineau.

    Wonder where Ron Brace is? He was leap-frogged early in camp by a guy taken 4 rounds later in Myron Pryor. Let's get his big business into that line to eat up some space!

    Mossed,

    are you forgetting Mike Wright, you know the team leader in sacks as their best pass rusher?

    No mikecal, he plays DT not DE. Eventhough I do like Mike Wright and his pass rushing ability, alot of his sacks are set up from the pressure provided by Jarvis & Ty Warren on the outside.

    @Frank

    Referring to men as "women" as a derogatory term is not very nice and it also putting down women. Many women have follow football and other sports and know just as much about it as other humans (men).

    Bill Parcells just called, and said not to worry about Frank... she should be okay. :)
