Calvin Johnson looks ready

The Detroit Lions looked like the worst team in the league in last week’s loss to the Rams, but they appear likely to have their most talented player back this week in Seattle.

Tim Twentyman of The Detroit News reports that wide receiver Calvin Johnson practiced today and showed no ill effects from the right knee injury that has sidelined him the last two weeks. Johnson, who despite missing two games leads the team with 325 receiving yards, worked with the first-team offense and appears ready to play again.

Johnson, however, cautioned that he doesn’t want to rush back onto the field.

“We’re going to just be careful, do what I can do,” Johnson said. “As long as I don’t have any setbacks, I think it’ll look brighter for Sunday. . . . I’ve got to look out for myself, because I don’t want have this thing lingering down in the future.”

The Lions also expect to have running back Kevin Smith on the field and healthy Sunday. Smith practiced Thursday after missing Wednesday because of a shoulder injury he suffered in the loss to the Rams.
