T.O. "not going to Cabo"

Terrell Owens isn’t having a particularly good season in Buffalo, but so far, he hasn’t thrown the Bills’ quarterbacks under the bus.

Maybe because he’s not done throwing his old quarterback with the Cowboys under the bus.

Owens was asked on Wednesday what he’ll be doing during the Bills’ bye week. He said he might go to Los Angeles to take in a Lakers game, and then he took a little shot at Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

“I’m definitely not going to Mexico, not going to Cabo,” Owens said, per the Buffalo News.

That, of course, was a reference to Romo and then-girlfriend Jessica Simpson taking a trip to Cabo San Lucas during the Cowboys’ bye week between the end of the 2007 regular season and their first playoff game. When the Cowboys lost that playoff game, there were suggestions that Romo wasn’t taking his business seriously enough, and that he’d rather party with starlets than be an NFL quarterback.

At the time, Owens was the first to stand up and passionately defend Romo against those “really unfair” criticisms. But now Owens is only too eager to criticize Romo himself.

Is it me or have you guys gotten a little too snarky for your own good.
I’m no fan of T.O., but that to me looks like somebody making a joke, having a little fun. It does not look like throwing Romo under the bus or now being “only too eager to criticize Romo himself.”
C’mon guys you can do better than this.

Having heard how tough the circumstances were when/where T.O. was raised coupled with respecting how hard he worked as a player, the underdog from the small school who fought back through injuries – I was long the steadfast T.O. apologist, and just thought he was at worst, an overly sensitive drama queen diva.
Well, he’s that alright – but I can deal with that.
But this? Now it’s getting even worse – the narcissism has gone volcanic, stilll worse than that — T.O. is showing more and more a spiteful, vindictive, malicious and vengeful side that tends to erase the thoughts of T.O.’s once perceived innocence.
This guy is spirally down into the abyss. Like my projections concerning Tyson and Rodman, I don’t see this ending well — and I reeeeally reeeeeally hope I’m wrong, because I do think T.O. has a good heart. But geez man – how about getting it together, and keeping it classy.

    a. T.O. is, was, and will always be a self-important, self-interested jerk. His loyalty is always to himself.
    b. Romo’s trip to Cabo had zero effect – other than perhaps relaxing him a bit – on his play. He was off work. If you go to Cabo on a vacation day or week, does it ruin your work? If you go with some babe, assuming that some babe has the vaguest interest in you, does THAT ruin your work when you return?
    c. The media seems to think that everything T.O. says is interesting (it isn’t – it just stirs up trouble), and that everything Romo does that isn’t connected to being a QB for the Cowboys (golf, who he’s dating) somehow is a disaster for his primary job. Neither is true.

shut up and retire already cry baby Owens. Only reason why he hasnt open his mouth this season is he’s trying to leave a good impression this season so when his contract expires, a new time will sign him on longer… but no one will want to sign a 35 year old with a trap that doesnt shut can’t block nor catch nor run routes anymore

Did anyone (including you PFT guys) actually READ the article or WATCH the interview?
    Didn’t think so.
It was a joke, 100% tongue-in-cheek, playful, said with a smile on his face.
[GASP], you mean that it’s okay for T.O. to actually be a relaxed human being and poke fun at a situation to which nobody, let alone the media, should still be sensitive? How horrid of him!
Between this crappola, and quoting him completely out of context on the “T.O. hates the no-huddle offense” garbage (again, if you WATCHED or LISTENED to the interview, he was clearly making a joke about how his preseason toe injury kept him from being in top condition, so the no huddle had him tired from running back to the line of scrimmage every play), I’m actually–to my chagrin–beginning to agree with T.O. that the media really does make him out to be far worse than he is.
And all of this coming on the heels of Roy Williams acting like a bigger clubhouse cancer in one interview than T.O. ever was in Dallas.
    Pretty pathetic guys.

Maybe while he is not going to Cabo, he should brush up on pass catching 101.

I can only assume this was directed at the PFT crew… but, seriously, could their work get any worse?

If the media would just leave this idiot out of the news when he makes ridiculous comments like this, maybe he would just slip away into oblivion where he belongs.

Who cares if it was a joke. The main point is that TOs head is still in Dallas…not Buffalo. It may have been a joke, but it underlies his inability to just do his job and continue to distract by attacking others.
This is a wasted season for him to try and repair his image…but in the end, it still shows that he is bitter and still does not realize that it is his mouth and attached attitude that sent him to Siberia…aka Buffalo. If he could keep his mouth shut, he might still be in Dallas.

Whoi cares what does this have to do with sports. you are worse than kornholehouser, Don’t care about this crap. Report on sports or get a job with entertainment tonight if you want to be a puff reporter.

T.O. will be sitting in the stands at the ‘Link” wearing his old Eagles jersey and thinking to himself what a mistake he made when he screwed up his career in Philly.
    Loved him as an Eagle
    Hated him as a Cowboy
Fell sorry for him as a Bill

Wow, I think you folks are blowing this out of proportion! Would you think it was the end of the world if you dropped your toast on the ground and got a hair on it? “Oh my god I’m going to starve, Damn you Newton for discovering gravity!” Lighten up people, he has said WAY worse things and if this small non important quote is making you fly off the handle this easilly, maybe you should stop worrying about TO’s life and focus on making your own a little better. I’d hate to be your child if i accidentally spilled milk on the floor.

Another place T.O. isnt going this season, is to the P.O. (that is play offs for the slower readers….)

You got that out of a 10 word quote, seriously? Don’t quit your day job, armchair psychologist. Like Moonunit said, TO paid for the Cabo trip as an apology for joking about Jessica Simpson. He was obviously joking here, too.

  17. 23niner says: Nov 5, 2009 1:55 PM

Ah yes, the desperate attempts of Terrell Owens to remain relevant… and he’s running on fumes. I loved him for the first two yrs in Dallas but he’s a malcontent and completely unaware of his declining football skills. He and Buffalo are a perfect fit, nobody really cares about either one.

  18. AllDayBigD says: Nov 5, 2009 2:07 PM

Why can’t you have some journalistic integrity and report the story as it is instead of cherry-picking whatever facts you like.
As a lawyer, you should know that there are necessary facts and then supporting facts. Jason Witten and other football players went to Cabo with Tony.
And get off of T.O.’s jock already…

Why do you keep posting stories about this guy?He is garbage. Ternell “Cry Baby” Owings was never, repeat never was pertinent or qualified to be a TOP NFL player. This guyis not worth anything. Refuse.Send his wanna be ass home. Stop giving us this level of crap.

  21. manofaiki says: Nov 5, 2009 11:55 PM

He was joking. This is just like the Roy Williams comment from the other day, reading it in print and watching it on video you can see how somebody can ‘read’ into the print version what they want to ‘see’.
As far as the old ‘Tony went to Cabo’ canard:
Everybody took that weekend off. Quick, somebody find out where the defensive players went because I want to know. Esp. the cornerbacks.
Romo didn’t miss a single practice, a single classroom session, a single meeting.
This whole issue needs to die.
