Healthier Giants bench starting safety

Football is the ultimate team game, so pinning losses on one player is usually reductive thinking.  That doesn't mean some players won't get scapegoated and become a running punchline for fans.

Well, Giants fans won't have safety C.C. Brown to scream about much longer.  Brown has struggled badly in pass coverage of late, and many of New York's secondary problems have been pinned on him -- fairly or unfairly.   On Friday, Brown learned at practice that he's been demoted for former Packers safety Aaron Rouse.

After giving up a long score against the Eagles, Brown "pretty much knew" it was going to happen.  Rouse was cut earlier this year by Green Bay, and is hardly guaranteed to solve New York's problems, especially against matchup nightmares like Vincent Jackson, Antonio Gates, and Malcom Floyd of San Diego.

Giants fans got more good news Friday after linebacker Michael Boley completed a healthy week of practice.  Boley and defensive tackle Chris Canty are expected to return to the lineup.  The expensive free agent acquisitions have combined to miss ten games this season.

Boley and Canty are both officially listed as questionable.  Mario Manningham is probable to play.

oh,.....yeah...that is totally going to solve their problems..........they are overrated no matter how you look at this team.....you could pick apart alot of their positions...
or bring back tiki, strahan, and plax...then maybe they will have a shot......

dont you mean back up cc brown will be replaced by another back up? the only reason why brown has even stepped foot onto the field was because kenny phillips got injured and is out for the season. their problems at S all came about when phillips went down. every team is allowed to have a boat load of injuries and it's a valid reason for poor play, when it's the giants or any other team expected to be good , its the same corny lines by the same corny fans 'overrated, they arent good, they played a good team, they are not good like people think" give me a break already.

It wasn't CC that threw two interceptions. Giants fans better hope the O-line improves or Eli's gonna spend the afternoon watching the "Lights Out" dance, close up.

eli could have thrown 5 td passes and how the defense played they would have lost.

Aaron Rouse likes to play way to deep and then miss on tackles. He's a bum.

Bring back plax. His presence scares opponents on both sides of the football.

Wonder why it's OK to celebrate a sack but can't celebrate a TD.

Most G-hens fans can't believe CC is still on the team......

I would like to think Reese maybe thinking outside the box to salvage the season...... How about Pacman???? If anyone can turn him around it would be the Giants organization and a move from cornerback to Safety might just do the trick.

As a Chargers fan, Giants fans needn't worry about a pass rush, though they shouldn't let Eli attempt a pass all day.

They won't be averaging less than 5 yards per carry, if they run Jacobs all day. The Chargers can't tackle - plain and simple. Especially up the gut where they're severely banged up at NT and ILB.

The Chargers should opt to go with Screen passes as well as the 'chuck it to my tall receivers' routes that they do so well.

Rivers will have twice the output as Manning but that won't tell the story.

NOTE: The Chargers are bringing their weather with them so it will be Bombs Away! for the Bolts.

joe v, they are thinking of moving thomas to S when toss comes back

CC Brown is terrible. Might as well try someone else. It's not rocket science... except in Philadelphia.

    Please tell me you're kidding...

Boley may help as he is really the only LB who can effectively rush the passer.

Canty, who the heck knows what we'll get out of him. If he survives the entire 60 minutes on Sunday, I'll be pleased.

I wouldn't worry about the Chargers beating the Giants. I am a huge Charger fan, and I just can't see them beating the Giants.

The Charger running game is terrible and the Chargers are traveling to the east coast. Granted it is a late game, but it isn't as though the Chargers have had great success traveling east.

If the Giants can shut down the Charger passing game, then the Giants will win. If the Giants can run against the piss poor Charger run defense, the Giants will win.

The Chargers in the past two weeks have won games against pretty poor teams, and even in those games their running game hasn't shown much.

The Chargers let Chambers go, it will be interesting to see how the team reacts to that loss. Granted, Chambers wasn't putting up big numbers, but I think he was a very important in the locker room.

I want the Chargers to win, but I just don't see it happening.

    ------------

Oh, a Philly is dumb joke? Well, that TD that CC Brown gave up, afterwards McNabb pointed to Marty Morninwheg - why, you ask? Well, the Eagles KNEW CC Brown was a bum and were waiting for the cover-2 look all game. Once the Giants flashed it... easy touchdown.

Now, how dumb is that? They knew the worst player in the backfield of an overrated team, and exploited him at the exact moment they left him to cover the NFC's most explosive player all by himself.

Broncos signed Ty Law thats not a bad signing e

Ross isnt a guarantee at this point

    Reese is sleeping

    Pacman could have upside

Cant Cover brown and Rouse this weekend against 3 beasts Jackson Floyd and Gates.

Season might come to a screatching halt.

Time to get physical on the O Line and the D line we have become soft this year. We are all feeling the Loss of Spags. These guys arent laying it on the line for Sheridan.

  18. Krow says: November 6, 2009 3:57 PM

"Oh, a Philly is dumb joke? "

Yeah. Because somehow you guys can't figure out why a team would bench a player who's screwing up. Duh...

---Not sure if you are aware but Burress is in prison for shooting himself in the leg at a nightclub. I know, I am just as shocked as you are that someone could be that stupid.

when the front 7 is totally dominated of course the dbs especially very average ones will get beaten.

but giants front 7 will be bolstered this sunday and the pressure they get and not getting gashed for 45 yard runs by rookies and fullbacks who never did it before will not happen this week. plus the defense will try just a little harder this week than the last 3 weeks. that is the key ingredient- TRYING to win!

blaming eli like you do is assinine. the giants are one of the highest scoring teams in the league. and yes if the qb can only win a game if his team scores 45 points - the problem is the defense NOT eli manning.

this week both giants offense and defense will be playing at a different level than last 3 weeks.

    result?

6-3 and in 2nd place a half game out of 1st place in east with a 2 week bye break to reenergize and heal and a meeting later on with whoever is still in front of them after sunday night but at home at the meadowlands.

"Well, Giants fans won't have safety C.C. Brown to scream about much longer. Brown has struggled badly in pass coverage of late..."

C.C. has struggled in pass coverage his entire career. Why do you think the Texans let him go?

  22. Bigbluefan says: November 6, 2009 5:44 PM

Rivers will be where he belongs on his ass

The Chargers are a wine and chesse team and one that will not win this week

Eli will show you why we took him over that whinny bitch Rivers and why we never wanted Roid boy ferryman

The Giants are not a bunch of girls so Ferryman will be no issue at all since all he beat up this year is a girl

    Chargers suck

what??? i think youre confusing me with someone else. when did i blame eli? i was actually defending him. Someone commented it's his 2 picks, i actually said the amt of pts they have given up, 5 td's wouldnt have helped. Youre directing everything towards me and it wasnt me that said anything.

  24. jkorn1818 says: November 6, 2009 6:33 PM

If Rouse is the answer, the question must be, "Who can't tackle, can't cover and is always out of position"

    In short, he sucks.
