New and improved mobile site has launched

When we began our partnership with NBC in July, we grossly underestimated the number of you who access the site via its mobile version.

So we have been working to significantly upgrade the mobile version of the site.  Last night, the new version arrived, with many more stories available for review.

Next up?  The ability to read and add comments from the mobile phone.

Eventually?  Comment ratings will be back.

If, in the interim, you have any complaints, feel free to submit them to nobodygivesacrap.com.

maybe i’m just not seeing it but it still looks like crap to me at profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/m/ … no way to view more than the first few stories, no way to navigate from one story to the next or view the whole rumor mill
    useless!

    About friggin time.
It only took PFT 9 years to make a “half working” mobile version. Congrats for being so speedy.

“we grossly underestimated the number of you who access the site via the iPhone.”
    Fixed.

good to hear, but if you’re going to do comments with the mobile devices, i hope you figure that cookie thing out.
i still don’t know why it can’t remember our login information – still have to log in almost every day.
good idea on the mobile version, i know i access from mobile about 50% of the time.

This explains all of the Error 400′s I’ve been getting with my BlackBerry. I hope the errors were caused by the process of upgrading and not the upgrade itself.
Any chance you can change the “remember me” function on the www site to remember me longer than I remember someone who let me go in traffic this morning?

I’m glad to see you are updating the mobile site, as I use it all the time – great way to pass the time while you’re in line somewhere, driving down the interstate when you should be watching the road, etc.
But I can’t get to the site now from my phone – is there a new url or something? Or is the site down while they are working on it?

And my comments all rate a “5″ unless you are a fan of cheating.

Maybe the real problem is you guys have inferior phones…
My iPhone defaulted to the standard page and displayed it without issue. It looks identical.
So maybe – its more of a user issue than it is a site issue? Generally speaking mobile sites suck and I would prefer to just see the regular one anyways. ESPN.com is a perfect example of that.
Sorry guys – your technology just sucks.

I didn’t even know there’s a mobile site and I almost exclusively use my iPhone to check it. Most sites automatically redirect mobile traffic to the mobile site. So unless you already do that and mine is just a POS, maybe consider looking into that.

    dear nobodygivesacrap.com management,
as a previous commenter suggested, it doesnt appear like anything is different. you can still only get the latest 10 stories and not go from one story to the next.
the old mobile hamsters were able to handle all stories, navigating to next/previous stories, comments, and ratings. maybe nbc needs to invest in starcaps or HGH for their little guys running on wheels.
i could be completely missing something but my pre, which i bought to keep your son off government cheese, is smarter than i am and cant find the difference.

kudos for the change and screw the ungrateful complaining bastards who feel you owe them anything for something free. I noticed the change when I got on this morning and liked it much better than the old school.

Nice improvements! It was a real pain in the A$$ to go back and forth from the article to the home page to the next article.
    Me likes!’
For those of you who haven’t found the new site, the url is:
    m.nbcsports.com/s/3030/home
(at least that is the one on my gizmo).

“nobodygivesacrap.com” Website is real and there’s a Mike on there blabbing about nonsense, stupid stuff…..wonder if it’s the same owner of this site…..

  14. WolfgangK says: Nov 6, 2009 12:04 PM

Looks and feels exactly the same as it has in the past…this has to be the most insignificant significant upgrade evar.

  15. WolfgangK says: Nov 6, 2009 12:27 PM

    m.nbcsports.com/s/3030/home
    Nice find WMH.

@WMH: Thanks for the address. It really is a huge improvement.

Great. Another technology nerd. How do you guys reproduce anyway? Asexually?

  17. Dean Keaton says: Nov 6, 2009 12:40 PM

Thanks a ton, I like the improvements. Nice to be able to have access to more than 8-10 articles and be able to view older stuff.
I also like the feature where you can select whether to view headlines only or full text of articles. In fact, this would be a GREAT option to add to the main rumor mill.

  18. samh says: Nov 6, 2009 2:50 PM

My iPhone can view the regular site just fine… I thought there might be a new decent mobile-optimized site. The link WMH posted is what I assumed profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/m/ would point to since there’s a giant button that says “PFT mobile.”
Anyway, the new mobile site is much improved, thanks NBC & PFT. One more request, though: can we please get the ability to jump to next and previous story from within each article?

  19. OldDogEyes says: Nov 6, 2009 4:26 PM

Maybe everyone missed it, but the link seems to have changed.
The URL that works for me is:
    http://m.nbcsports.com/s/3030/home
The old URL no longer works for me:
    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/m
Unfortunately, as of this posting, Florio still has the OLD URL linked to the “PFT Mobile” icon/button on the right side of the website…
Maybe he will get it updated.
