NFLPA seeking information regarding fines imposed by Browns

Lost in the confusion arising from the recent upheaval in Cleveland is the fact that coach Eric Mangini had been fining multiple players for a variety of actual and perceived infractions.

And now the NFL Players Association is trying to get to the bottom of it.

Per multiple league sources, the union has asked player agents to identify any players who have been fined by the Browns this year, including the amount of the fine and the reason for it.

The thinking is that, while some grievances have been filed challenging fines, other players have taken their medicine and moved on.

For some players, it might be too late to take action, since specific deadlines apply to the filing of a grievance.  Still, it appears that the union is preparing to take a broader look at what's been going on in Cleveland.

Has something been going on in Cleveland? Is there an NFL team there? I thought the Browns jumped to the UFL.

How could Mangini spend so much time with Belichek and have no clue how to run an organization?

Although it was Florio, not me, that said he would never get another NFL coaching job after the Jets. Of course Florio also once claimed Brad Childress would never get another job in the NFL for claiming one of Belichek's practice squad players in Garrett Mills.

What's the recent upheaval in Cleveland? The Gm was tossed and it apparently was coming for weeks. Did you see that one coming Florio? The answer is no, so you make it the recent upheaval instead of the inevitable result of a two bad hirings. You chose to sensationalize the story to cover your inadequate reporting and analyzing skills. The truth is, the media has been so busy bashing Mangini and Lerner they have for the most part ignored the obvious disappearance of Kokinis. That turned out to be the real story. Had someone caught on to the pattern earlier, we may know more of the truth now. Unfortunately no one is talking in the Browns organization at all right now. What's the result? Mangini seems to still reign supreme. The media back in the day would have totally exposed this guy for what he is, and Lerner would have seen the light by now. The old media would have left the office for notebook, face to face interviews that yield so much more than phone calls from an comfortable office chair. Now, so called reporters and anaylists make a few calls, accept what they are told for face value and plunk out a story on their computer regardless of the work products veracity.
So you see, I indict you and others like you Mike Florio for taking the easy path to what could have been a real story. If you think Mangini is so bad for the team and league, why don't you go prove it?

    Bill Belichick:
"Jimmy (Johnson) probably said the same thing to you that he once said to me: “You’re really only competing with about 10 teams a year. If you just say out of the way, the other 20 teams will screw it up themselves. Whether it’s ownership or personnel or coaching or some combination of factors.” Ego, internal struggle, something will happen to two-thirds of the teams, that was Jimmy’s theory."

The Mangenious, Dan Snyder, Oaken Al Davis and a few others screw it up themselves without any effort from their opponents.

Yesssss... clearly Kokinis was the problem in Cleveland (oh and Erin O'Brien)

Good thing they righted that ship.

Players obviously love and respect coaches who fine them $1700 per waterbottle... force them on a Bus ride for 10 hours to appear at their coach's Foundation football camp (and throw their best friends under the bus).

Kokinis may have been part of the problem but I suspect what happened with and or to Kokinis is the story.
