PFT Picks for Week Nine are up

The '68 VW bus made the trek to Manhattan a day early this week, and in the confusion resulting from the disruption to my meticulous, Rain Man routine I forgot to post something about this week's PFT Picks.

Here they are.

Last week, Rosenthal and yours truly teamed up to go 11-2, our best showing yet this year.

For the record, yours truly was 6-1 and Rosenthal was 5-1.  So, basically, suck it Trebek.

Hey Rain Man, did you forget something?

Florio, your prediction of the Ravens beating the Bengals is all wrong. Carson Palmer is and always will be the better QB and the Bengals will win. Take notice.

You're serious Florio? I don't have beef with the pick for Ravens Bengals, I think it'll be a tight game, but Flacco is a better QB than Palmer? You're on Crack, Flacco has played 23 games, Palmer is gold (last year w/ injury and 07 not withstanding).
    Bengals 31 Ravens 24
Palmer throws for 300 plus and 3 td's

I dont know what kind of crack you smoke but to think that the Eagles will beat the Cowboys that badly, and to end that prediction with a smart a$$ remark, is insane. That game is going to go back and forth and will be within 7 points. I am not sure who is going to win but to claim that a team that lost to the Oakland Raiders will hang with anyone is completely out there. you will be 6-1 again, with that one pick being wrong.

    flacco > palmer ....???

you are kidding right? you know carson just posted crazy 146.7 passer rating with 5 td on 20-24 passes????

  6. PFTiswhatitis says: November 6, 2009 12:29 PM

Steelers should beat the Broncos. I agree more or less with the others.

Flacco a better quarterback than Palmer? Can anyone say that without laughing?

  8. Hap says: November 6, 2009 12:42 PM

Am I ever glad NOBODY'S pickin the Cowboys. Now, since nobody is, I don't expect anybody to say anything when Dallas loses. That would be 2 faced.

  9. mongorama says: November 6, 2009 12:42 PM

Yeah, I'm having a difficult time with that one myself. Perhaps if it had been phrased as "the quarterback having the better season" I could see it. This is a little too much for me. Palmer is a two time Pro Bowler, and a Pro Bowl MVP. Flacco was the 2008 Rookie of the Year. The kid is a terrific talent and has a bright future, but needs to build more honors before I give him the better quarterback award.

Should be a heck of a game though. Both teams lit it up in their last games. Both teams are fired up. The Ravens are so so on the road. The Bengals are so so at home. The Ravens want revenge (they've been eating a lot of crow over Benson's performance, and Flacco's poor showing). The Bengals want respect (underdogs at home, against a team they've beaten on the road)... I hope both teams show up and give it their all on Sunday. With it looking like such a great game on paper (and someone would be foolish to think one team is vastly superior to the other), it would be a shame if one team didn't give it's all.

Kiss my ass! Flacco a better QB than Palmer?! HAHAHAHA! How many national championships has Oscar the Grouch had? Did the Heisman his senior year have a unibrow and a trash can?

  11. rydendonkeys says: November 6, 2009 12:52 PM

Can't believe one of you clowns took my Donkeys over Steeler nation.

Everyone is laying it on the Steelers, hopefully that line moves some more!

  12. lucky says: November 6, 2009 12:52 PM

Get out of here. No way is Flaco better than Palmer.

  13. Deb says: November 6, 2009 12:52 PM

Though anything is possible, it doesn't seem likely we'll be in for many surprises this week, does it? The only promising games are Ravens/Bengals, Steelers/Broncos, Eagles/Cowboys, and perhaps Fins/Pats. And the NFL wonders why there are some blackout issues?

Can't argue with any of the pics except Steelers/Broncs. I think the Steelers can take it, but the Broncs have been surprising this year--and I'm biased. Would love to see the Fins take the Pats.

At least we'll have good games on both Sun and Mon nite for a change. And hello Thurs!

Joe Flacco a better QB than Carson Palmer? Really?

    What a joke.

  15. baycabbie says: November 6, 2009 1:19 PM

The Brown's have a Bi-Week and I predict they will still lose by 36 points.

Not so much insane as it is just biased. I mean come on, he picked the Eagirls to beat the Cowboys LAST week. Let's face it, anybody that comes here for insight is retarded. This is a rumor site and that's it. The NFL version of TMZ.

Hell, he has them beating the chokes by ten......How is it "that badly", when you have it within 7?....I'm sure Vegas, is looking at your comment much more than Reid's 14-6 record against the cowchokes, in a home game to boot....How much crack do you smoke?....They beat the G-hens by 23 in a game that wasn't even close, the team you lost to at home, so what logic exactly are you trying to convey here?

  18. AbeFreshly says: November 6, 2009 2:01 PM

I'll take "How much will the Bucs lose by?" for $1,000, Alex.

Vox! Thought you were holed up in the "Fortress of Solitude"/basement for the week. Guess the evil Florio said something bad about the Cowboys and the citizens of Dillusionville need your protection, huh?

  20. WaccoForFlacco says: November 6, 2009 2:15 PM

@ ilivincin97 & all the other Joe Flacco haters

How many playoff games has Carson Palmer won in his career? I might be wrong, but I think Flacco won 2 as a rookie...

You want stats you say ... in 2009:

    Flacco has 165 completions; 1,849 yards; 264.1 ypg; 12 TDs 5 INTs; and a 95.6 QB Rating.

    Palmer has 140 completions; 1,608 yards; 229.7 ypg; 13 TDs 7 INTs; and a 89.2 QB Rating.

Yeah Palmer has one more win this season, but Flacco has lead the Ravens in the 4th Quarter to what should have been wins against the Pats and Vikings - no rational person could blame Flacco for either loss. Don't get me wrong, Palmer is a great QB ... but in all honesty, he hasn't climbed over the plateau to a top-tier QB ... so Florio's statement might not be as absurd as you think.

Anal bum cover......thanks for the laugh Mike

Suck it Trebek, suck it long and suck it hard!

  22. steeltownpride says: November 6, 2009 3:37 PM

I dont think its fair to compare Flacco to Palmer . Palmer has a better pedigree than Flacco . But college careers have nothing to do with professional football . Palmer has been in the league much longer and has a better resume than Flacco.

As a Steelers fan we know a little more than the outside world . So as it stands TODAY . Palmer is a much better QB than Flacco . His track record says such . Yes Flacco has more playoff wins than Palmer . But one season doesnt make a career . Let Flacco get another 3 or 4 seasons under his belt and than can go back and compare with a sample of both .

But everyone knows but i will educate the ones that dont ..............

    AFCN QB rankings ........

    1 Ben Roethlisberger
    2 Carson Palmer
    3 Joe Flacco
    4 Charlie Batch
    5 Troy Smith
    6 Dennis Dixon
    7 Derek Anderson
    8 Brady Quinn

It is too tedious to click through all the picks. And I'm not even feeling lazy.

  25. Danishpackerfan says: November 6, 2009 6:47 PM

Florio(or Rosenthal) got a question for you.

I am i packer fan so im not biased in this one but it really shocked me what you wrote in the Bengals Ravens match, i agree Baltimore will win but how.... how can say that Joe Flacco is a better quarterback than Carson Palmer, that is flat out insane and how can you even make a single argument for this?

  26. Danishpackerfan says: November 6, 2009 6:56 PM

Lol i see i am not the only one with that opinion ;) We want a seperate post where you argue why Flacco is better!

    @WaccoForFlacco
If your Ravens were the team drafting Carson in 03 you would have won at least one Super bowl thats for sure, and you know it
