Westbrook misses practice, but expected to play

Eagles running back Brian Westbrook is listed as questionable for Sunday’s Cowboys-Eagles showdown after suffering a concussion two weeks ago, but coach Andy Reid fully expects him to play.

Westbrook practiced Wednesday and Thursday, but sat out Friday as a precaution.  The Eagles have set up a similar practice schedule for Westbrook in the past.  “[Westbrook] has taken every rep for the last two days here,” Reid said.

Look for Westbrook and LeSean McCoy to split the workload in the Eagles backfield fairly even.

“I think [Westbrook] can contribute a bunch here,” Reid said.  “We’ve been rotating {Westbrook
and McCoy], so that’s what we will continue to do.”

Strong side linebacker Chris Chris Gocong is likely to miss the game after being listed as doubtful.  Rookie Moise Fokou should start in his place.  The Cowboys could attack Philly’s ever-changing linebacker group with a heavy dose of its running game and possibly extra passes to tight ends Jason Witten and Martellus Bennett.

Maybe Andy Reid can ask his sons to give Westbrook a little somethin somethin to numb the pain

this Fokou kid is raw but a good player.
Akeem Jordan is playing lights out.
And last but not least, the ‘Spoon has been great since the Eagles stole him from the Rams.

Maybe he’ll help the Lombardi Trophy-less Eagles win vs the 5 X Super Bowl Champion Dallas Cowboys ! Or maybe he’ll throw-up when the going gets tough like McScabb did.

Oh I get it lukestrass, it’s an “Andy Reids sons sell drugs” joke. Nice one.

The best part about the week leading up to Eagles vs. Cowboys lately is the passion that the Cowboys fans feel for those Super Bowls 15+ years ago. They sure love that one before the game, but it just seems like they disapear come Monday… Why is that? Those super bowls are still only 15+ years old right?
I expect all of you guys to continue bragging about that next week too!

Great MORE passes for the TE Whitten??
Is it just me or have TE’s been tearing up the Eagles here lately? Shockey, Miller, Cooley/Davis, etc..
It’s not just the LB play that effect’s a TE’s productivity, I’ve seen Mikell get burned wayy too many times by a TE. It has to stop!

  7. leatherneck says: Nov 6, 2009 2:56 PM

It is very clear that Brian Westbrook should not play in this game.
The danger of sustaining a second concussion so near the previous one, especially when that one was very serious, outweighs any good that can come from him playing.
Even if Westbrook does survive the game, he could suffer permanent brain injury as a result of a second concussion.

Do my posts even have a shot of getting on here?
My comment about Tony Romos sexuality being the only thing questionable for Sundays game is gold. Come on Rosenthal I am working hard today at not working.

    Dear Hapless,
    which is worse…
throwing up (allegedly…this was a rumor started by TO of all people) *before* throwing a TD pass in the Super Bowl
    Or,
Fumbling a snap of an extra point against the Seahawks. Failing miserably on 4 tries inside the 10 against the Giants. after going to Cabo with Jessica before a playoff game. 44-6 with the playoffs on the line.
    Child, Please.

  10. lukestrass says: Nov 6, 2009 2:58 PM

Sorry birdmancometh, I could have made jokes about Andy Reid’s failure to win the big one, or Donovan Mcnabb’s fatass getting winded in the superbowl, or Brian Westbrook’s inability to stay healthy, or another NFC championship loss, but i thought this was more humorous

  11. MJacks44 says: Nov 6, 2009 3:08 PM

Hap, can you really gloat about five superbowl wins when Dallas hasn’t even won a playoff game in 13 years? 90% of the roster wasn’t even in high school at that time.
Philly might not have a superbowl victory but since 2000 Eagles have been to the playoffs 7 times, 5 conference title games, and a superbowl. Ten playoff wins in that time. Not to bad despite not winning a superbowl. I’ll take that over not winning a playoff game in 13 years.

  12. ggdd says: Nov 6, 2009 3:15 PM

As long as the eagles smack down the giants and the cowboys, thats the next best thing to winning a superbowl!!

  13. birdmancometh says: Nov 6, 2009 3:25 PM

Thats ok Lukestrass, someone with your comedic genious needs to make tough choices sometimes. You can’t use all your good new material all at once. I totally understand. Did you know that the Cowboys have 5 (five) Super Bowl rings?

  14. Hap says: Nov 6, 2009 3:28 PM

    JVF,
Which is worse- 5 Super Bowl rings or NO Super Bowl rings (many Soup commercials-NO Rings)?
Idiot. Call me when you get 1, then you’ll only be 4 short !!

  15. Hap says: Nov 6, 2009 3:29 PM

Soory guys ! You have ZERO Super Bowl rings. NONE. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Zero. Die in McScabb’s huddle vomit.

  16. birdmancometh says: Nov 6, 2009 3:37 PM

Looks like Hap knows about it, let’s get the word out…

Brain damage isn’t so tough. You and the rest of the Cowboy fans on this site seem to be getting by.

  18. jan van flac says: Nov 6, 2009 3:50 PM

    Hap,
remind me…what year did the Cowboys last win a ring?
what year did they last win a playoff game?
has any current player on their roster done either?
I would rather have the Eagles’ brand of success than the Cowboys. Any honest fan would.

  19. Hap says: Nov 6, 2009 3:56 PM

You’d rather have WHAT ? That’s the problem. You think just getting to the super Bowl is enough. Dont settle for 2nd best in the league, guys. Come on.
I’m an honest fan of America;s Team, THE 5 X World Champion dallas Cowboys ! Now, go profess your manhood to that PAL!

  20. mattitude says: Nov 6, 2009 4:08 PM

Hey, what happened in Dallas’ last game in Texas Stadium last year when they played the Ravens, who were hand-picked by Jerry Jones? What happened in Dallas’ last regular season game in 2008, where all they had to do was win in order to make the playoffs? What happened to Dallas in the 2007 playoffs? What happened to Dallas in the 2006 playoffs? I really need to see a doctor about my Cowboys-related memory problems.

  21. Hap says: Nov 6, 2009 4:12 PM

    ——————-
ROFL listening to a Philly fan claim that they don’t care about not winning the Superbowl. Philly’s record is one of utter frustration because they haven’t won a Superbowl through all of that. They can’t win the big one, they just can’t. *choke*. It is MUCH worse than Dallas not winning a playoff game in 13 years. At least Dallas has won the big one. Philly NEVER has. NEVER won a Superbowl no matter how good your team has been and after coming close SO many times. You guys are almost as pathetic as the Bills. in that respect. You’re right there with Detroit, heck even Oakland has won a Superbowl.
Every team has periods when they aren’t all that, the Steelers went from 1948 – 1972 – 24 years without a playoff appearance. Dallas will win a playoff game eventually, but at least they’ve done something (5 times actually) that Philly has NEVER done.

  23. jan van flac says: Nov 6, 2009 4:41 PM

no, it’s not enough. but getting damn close is MUCH better then going into a tailspin every December. Nothing is worse than that..
and your championships mean NOTHING if no current players took part.
i mean….the 90’s. Last century. Last millenium. Who cares.

100% of Eagirls players, coaches, and fans that post to PFT were not alive last time the Eagirls won a championship.

The funny thing is that the Cowboys will win another playoff game one day, then what will the Eagirls fans say? They’ll say what they’ve said their entire lives “oh well, there’s always next year”.

I wouldn’t sweat that. the cowboys have zero chance of winning another ring this season. They just aren’t that good.

  33. Ocelot138 says: Nov 6, 2009 10:25 PM

Dallas fans are way smarter than Philly fans. So smart, in fact, that they’ve all discovered a way to live in the mid-90’s forever! If only we had that technology, we could go back to the 3 pre-merger Championships and pretend like that means something in the 21st Century!
…Face it, Cowboys fans. Eagles haven’t won the Superbowl, but neither have the Cowboys. Not in well over a decade. Maybe they both want to be the Patriots, but you know what? Take the Bird and the star off of the helmets, and ask a fan which team was the better team – by the amount of success they had – and they don’t go “Um… it’s even.” — They pick the team who’s been to 5 NFC Championships over the team that can’t win an elimination game.

  34. clausen for heisman says: Nov 7, 2009 11:31 AM

the amount of super bowls your team has does not affect how the team is this season… so the super bowl arguments by cowboys fans really work.. all cowboys fans will stop talking after sunday
    44-6
